We received positive news yesterday: by collaborating with a small sheriff's office in Minnesota, USA, we successfully froze approximately USD 700,000 worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum held in various exchanges. These accounts belong to Chinese nationals based in Hong Kong, Laos, and Cambodia. The civil forfeiture process is likely to take at least six months, and our next challenge will be proving that the remaining balances can be traced back to our client, who was defrauded of over USD 1.4 million. One wallet, in particular, has processed over USD 40 million in laundered funds.

Note: This is an exceptionally rare case. Recovery, or any form of justice, is often elusive with Pig Butchering scams, especially when orchestrated by organized Chinese criminal networks. In rare instances like this, disrupting their operations may force them to rebuild infrastructure from the ground up.

ProtonMail is a popular service amongst those who want to anonymously harass their victims. The sender of a #ProtonMail email address is hard to trace compared to other email providers. This is because:
a) The email is encrypted, which means the sender’s originating IP address is hidden from the source code, and
b) ProtonMail generally does not respond to subpoenas as it requires any subpoena directed at ProtonMail to be issued by a Swiss court.

Here is the full video of paid Facebook ad where artificial intelligence is used to impersonate CNN anchor reporters to promote a criminal recovery scam operation.
I’ll post in the comments below screenshots of the reporting process. Once Facebook responds, I will post a screenshot of their response.
