Nigeria is actually no 4 along with Australia and Thailand. Australia doesn't have oil; they depend solely on rare earth metals. Look what they have done with their solid minerals sector. Nigeria's solid minerals are enormous but like our oil, it's all stolen by our politicians who to date I don't know what they intend to do with all the money they continue to steal
The **top 10 rare earth metal producers** (by mine production of rare-earth oxide or REO equivalent, in metric tons) are dominated by a few key countries, with **China** overwhelmingly leading global output. Data is based on the latest available estimates from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Mineral Commodity Summaries 2025, covering 2024 production figures (released in early 2025), along with corroborating reports from sources like Investing News Network and Visual Capitalist.
Global mine production in 2024 was approximately **390,000 metric tons** of REO equivalent, up from around 376,000 tons in 2023, driven largely by increases in China, Nigeria, and Thailand.
Here is the ranked list of the **top producers** (2024 estimates):
1. **China** — 270,000 metric tons
(Dominates with ~69% of global production; includes major operations in Bayan Obo and other sites. Output rose from 255,000 tons in 2023.)
2. **United States** — 45,000 metric tons
(Primarily from the Mountain Pass mine in California, operated by MP Materials; up from 41,600 tons in 2023, marking significant domestic growth.)
3. **Myanmar (Burma)** — 31,000 metric tons
(Down from higher levels in prior years like 43,000 tons in 2023; production often from ion-adsorption clay deposits.)
4. **Australia** — 13,000 metric tons
(Mainly from Lynas Rare Earths' Mount Weld mine; steady contributor with growing processing capacity outside China.)
5. **Nigeria** — 13,000 metric tons
(Rapidly emerging producer; significant increase noted in recent years due to new mining and processing developments.)
6. **Thailand** — 13,000 metric tons
(Sharp rise highlighted in USGS data; contributing to diversification efforts.)
7. **India** — 2,900 metric tons
(Stable but modest output; large reserves but limited current extraction.)
8. **Russia** — 2,500 metric tons
(Consistent production from sources like Lovozero.)
9. **Madagascar** — ~2,000 metric tons
(From operations like Ampasindava; estimates vary slightly across sources.)
10. **Vietnam** — 300 metric tons
(Low current output relative to its large reserves; potential for future growth.)
Other notable mentions (just outside top 10 or with smaller/variable output) include Brazil (~20 tons in 2024, despite huge reserves), Malaysia (~130 tons), and various "other" countries collectively at ~1,100 tons.
Note: These figures represent **mine production** (extraction of rare earth-bearing ores/concentrates), measured in REO equivalent. China also dominates downstream processing/refining (~90% globally), but the list above focuses on upstream mining as per standard USGS and industry rankings. Production can fluctuate yearly due to quotas (in China), geopolitical factors, new projects, and market demand for elements used in magnets, EVs, renewables, defense, and electronics.
For the most precise or updated figures beyond 2024, check the latest USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries (typically released annually in January/February). If you'd like details on reserves, specific companies (e.g., MP Materials, Lynas), or heavy vs. light REE breakdowns, let me know!
Just imagine your mindset, a man chooses to invest his money to secure your life by training nurses with his personal funds, these nurses would graduate and help save your life, but you rather he gives you the money to perform your duty so that you can feel good for a few days and when you fall sick tomorrow, and go to the hospital they are no nurses to help you.
Please make it make sense, I can see you're a Tinubu supporter, so I understand, it was one of you who said that once you join the APC your brain stops working and you guys continue to prove him right.
Clearly, the battle for Nigeria is between those who want to move the nation forward and those who have chosen the broom, a symbol of witchcraft which simply represents backwardness. My only hope is that those of us who want to move forward are in the majority and we will overcome because Nigeria must work in our lifetime.
You are obviously the dumb one, if you don't realize that this is clearly a result of a failed system. The responsibility of the government is to protect life and property, including protecting people from themselves. The questions are simple
1. How did that truck get on the road,? It's clearly not roadworthy
2. Where are firefighters and other security agencies to ensure that no spark goes off, people are at a safe distance and no one loses their life?
3. How about first aid responders just in case anything happens,? People receive immediate care
You can not blame the hungry for risking their life to find food, it's a natural animal instinct, get the food first and think later.
The government has failed and we should at least agree on that if we must seek better.
Try to use the brain God gave you to actually think, that's what your brain is supposed to be used for. Please learn to use it going forward.
This is very simple, the APC planted the article for one purpose and one purpose only, HATE THE IGBO. First, they claimed that a Biafra group was lobbying Washington so much that FGN had to outspend them to get the attention of the USA. Now a trader in Onitsha gave Washington locations to bomb, the target of the article is also very clear, because no right-thinking person would take a pinch of it, but ignorant lots would, and they are the target.
It's difficult to counter the APC propaganda machine, they have no care for governance, just politics and holding on to power for no reason.
You can't remove any, the most important is the absence of authority. Even if people choose to be stupid, it is the duty of the government to safeguard all including people from themselves. In situations like this, the authority should be the first to arrive at the scene, cordon the area off, divert traffic for miles, and ensure that fire doesn't break out and cause more damage. Instead, you have a complete absence of authority. Some people would be in their houses, not knowing what was going on, and the next thing, fire would consume them all.
@BadonB Politicians would loot it and share rice for their supporters, and give some extra cash to data boys to go online to gaslight everyone who opposes or exposes their incompetence
@Gviev@sofumade1 And who said that being a senior partner at KPMG means he can't be a political jobber? The fact that he is doing Tinubu's bidding against the collective good of the people clearly means he is a political Jobber.
The fact that Taiwo is a senior partner at PWC doesn't make him all-knowing. PWC has multiple senior partners because, in many cases, professionals need to put their heads together to solve one problem. So if other senior partners are saying Guy you have made a mistake, it's not for you to say. No, you don't understand it, instead you can okay let's look at it together and hopefully we can get the best version. Remember that the idea is to solve a problem in the interest of all.
Don't allow you support for a government that has failed on all fronts to blind your reasoning. Thank you
We can not unite, if Atiku insists that it must be him, in 2015, Atiku left the PDP on account that power must return to the north, because of Atiku's ambition, the PDP lost power, in 2019, the PDP zoned power to the north, no southerner pick up the nomination ticket of the PDP, Atiku got the ticket and failed to deliver at the polls. In 2023, the north had now completed 8 years. Atiku insisted that he must run regardless of the zoning principles, fracturing the PDP beyond repair.
2027 is on the way; a coalition is forming to wrest power from the APC. Atiku is insisting it must be him. My advice to @PeterObi is to quietly return to LP, and let Atiku keep running
@RazorSharpener1@jamaiyiibieneye@atiku Because you are not in Nigeria, where is Yaya Bello, what of Ibori? Oga go and sit down, @atiku should please respond to this, you said anyone with evidence should come forward, anyone don drop evidence
Like I've said make una just dey watch the movie. LP is still very active, the worst-case scenario is that we would have a repeat of the 2023 lineup, only this time Atiku won't have the structure of the PDP, no Delta money, just him and maybe an Amechi on the ticket if Amechi agrees to work with him. The in-fighting would make the ADC worse and Obi would return to LP where Datti would step down for him willingly. Datti simply sent a clear message to the ADC, should they give Atiku the ticket Obi is out.
@woye1@officialABAT@GEJonathan In all of this, the impact of government policies is of no regard, just bring money, mobilize and the votes would come pouring in.
I just dey laugh. The funny thing is that @officialABAT may not even contest the 2027 election. Watch
The APC government is unpatriotic. @officialABAT just signed off Nigeria to the French on some unknown tax deal. The issue never went through the national assembly. To this day, the FGN has refused to publish the details of the MoU with the French government, and you are here talking nonsense about Venezuela.
Please tell them the government is unpatriotic. @officialABAT just signed off Nigeria to the French on some unknown tax deal. The issue never went through the national assembly. To this day, the FGN has refused to publish the details of the MoU with the French government, and you are here talking nonsense about Venezuela.
Better Trump managing our oil than Tinubu. Just look at the NNPC report: 210 trillion naira unaccounted for. On top of that, Tinubu just wrote off 8 trillion naira and $139 billion. Show us just one benefit of our oil , everything is stolen by those in power. At least Trump would account for every penny, the American authorities would ensure that he gives an account. Here some clowns would support the known thief just because, his in the same party or same tribe.
On all fronts your argument is flawed.
