Carved nearly 2,500 years ago under the Achaemenid kings Darius I and Xerxes I, these towering limestone figures stand in perfect order, like time-frozen guards of an empire. Their calm faces, identical posture, and endless symmetry send one clear message: authority, discipline, and control. Above them, the ceiling blooms with carved flowers and sacred symbols, whispering of divine protection and cosmic order.

Every year during Nowruz, envoys from across the known world—stretching from the Indus Valley to the Mediterranean—walked these very paths, carrying gifts, tribute, and loyalty.
