@RC_Ind1@RepChipRoy Trump does not ban Iranian students and scientists. Also, he won’t have an assistant thinking all migrants are Indians!! So, that would be better for us my small, racist and stupid dude!!
Pathetic: @immivoice is now bullying migrants in the #gcbacklog who follow me.
Remember class: the Daily Caller-linked, GOP front group delivered zero @HouseGOP votes for their bill, then blamed Dems, burned every bridge, and harassed hella women (press & Hill staff). TOXIC.
So toxic, but typical @immivoice: all threats (in this case of violence); zero delivery; divide migrants and disparage allies. Not that the clown car cares about facts, but fwiw ... unlike #EagleAct, the Puerto Rico Status Act actually had the votes.
@PabloReports@immivoice It is not only Iranian who oppose the bill, we African, an international student in US oppose it too. It is my hope to get the green card in the next two years and I don’t want my dream to be shattered by this bill. #NoEagleAct
🚨BREAKING: @Heritage_Action grassroots helped DEFEAT the #EAGLEAct.
Thank you to the grassroots community for your efforts and the members of Congress who protected American jobs and national security.
@georghi1527@ellengilmer@PabloReports Representatives get paid to figure it out. Not my job! I just know that making problems for all nations to solve a nation’s problem does not make sense.
To recap —
#EagleAct went from 365 YAY votes in the House last Congress ... to ZERO Republicans supporting and every major Democratic caucus divided.
Clearly, GOP votes @immivoice promised leadership weren't ever there, so leadership pulled the controversial country caps bill.
My take: #EagleAct is done, maybe forever now that Lofgren (the controversial bill's author) and Pelosi will be out of House leadership.
McCarthy and his GOP caucus are NAY and the power base in Dem leadership is shifting away from tech-centric districts.
EAGLE Act didn't get a vote today. Likely because they don't have the votes. Normally, this is where an advocacy group would reach out to allies & friends on the Hill & do a full-court press, but that's not going to happen for the group that's burnt every bridge they've crossed.
@BhargavaVJ@David_J_Bier That can be a good solution as long as 70% of H1B is not abused by one nation to fill the line. You made your problem. You killed the fairness and now talk about it?!!!
Here's what worries me about the EAGLE Act:
It improves things for the people currently treated the worst, but it does so by gumming up the rest of the system
For example, CRS projects it would grow the expected EB2 backlog in 2030 for most countries from just 1 year to 37 yrs
