I feel the opposite will be the case. Lara's power is life itself, I think Mari will die - probably through Grace or her Eels hands (although they don't have any 🤣) and then Lara's projected Knife will turn to pure light again and she will resurrect Mari, her family and Grace.

It’s clear Lara will do anything to avoid hurting Mari…maybe even stabbing herself so the blade doesn’t reach her true love?
Either way, I don’t think Mari will get hurt at all (only emotionally)

This is very simple. If Goodbye Lara has an ambiguous ending it will just be a good seasonal anime that we enjoyed while it aired but no one will talk about in a few months. And when it comes up it will be remembered somewhat negatively.

Oh Grace is dying.. I think she knows that Lara is in love with Mari the questions is why she doesn't get involved even tho she is dying - or not well.
