A diagnosis of osteoarthritis is not the end of your active life. For the most part... the stronger your legs are and the more you walk the longer you'll keep your natural joints https://t.co/Lj1I2crYP0
"Zero pain, ever" is an unrealistic goal for a patient.
If you have that goal, you may never achieve it, which is discouraging.
I tell patients, "let's shoot for mild, brief & rare." That ensures you have a vibrant, active life, even though you may have the occasional ache.

8. It's not your age.
While it's true that you may not recover like you're 20 anymore, you can still cycle. You may want to plan more- warmup, manage your distance/effort, stretch, and off season train as we've suggested.
Believe it or not, your back pain is unique to you.
Why you have it, & what will make you feel better depends on so many things. Recovery can be complicated.
Family, friends, neighbors & co-workers are well meaning; but their solutions won't necessarily be yours.
What makes a good warmup?
Man's best friend, of course! (other family is great too)
Seriously though; have fun. And when you're a good role model, others will join in.
