Correction: This was not a vaccine trial, but a drug (Trovan) trial conducted by Pfizer in 1996 during a meningococcal meningitis epidemic. Four things stood out for me:
1. Pfizer tested their experimental drug without ethical approval.
2. There was no informed consent from trial participants (participants and their families were not told that they were part of a trial). Pfizer argued that it was not required to obtain informed consent for experimental drug trials in Africa.
3. The Pfizer team left Kano after the trial and never returned for follow-up evaluations.
4. Their drug caused deaths and injuries.
This highlights the importance of prioritising medical ethics in Africa. The reality is that this event contributed to the vaccine hesitancy Nigeria experienced when trying to eliminate wild polio. It most likely still contributes to vaccine hesitancy in the country!
Between @gtbank & @9mobileng, I don’t know which is more deserving of the title ‘Passionately Delivering an Unfortunate Thursday Morning’.
@9mobilengCare perhaps should get the gold star. Most Vacant Player.

Is there a masterclass for people who used to love social media until they didn’t and now no longer know how to social or media but sort of want to media from a social distance…without having to sell anything…or dance…or story time?
I thought I would be ready but I wasn’t.
I thought Dre was about to do another song or bring Snoop up or something. When he asked for a moment of silence, I thought it might be memoriam for an artist (RIP NIP)
I was not ready for the psttttttttttttttttttt!
My poor neighbours.
I’m producing BLOOD🩸, a psychological thriller shedding light on #Endometriosis#womenshealth. As an Endo Survivor, this film highlights a condition affecting 1 in 10 women (190 MILLION). It’s never “just a period”…
