We shared stories & ideas about how we young people can empower us

One key strategy I shared with them was putting yourself in spaces that connect & grow you, spaces like the #GNTrybeBraveGirlsFestival

We had the honor to participate in the @rhrn_ug reflection meeting under @RHUganda

This space was a reminder that youth-led movements can’t grow in isolation.

In a country where teen pregnancy, HIV, and SRHR challenges remain a threat, is the only way forward is together.

I believe menstruation is not just a girls’ thing, it’s a life thing.

If boys learn about periods,
they grow up to become better brothers, partners, leaders, and fathers.

Periods are normal.
Supporting girls with no fear or shame is normal.

Most of them didn’t even know these services existed, but by the end of the session, many walked away with not just knowledge, but actual access to PrEP and PEP. Big love to @bayloruganda and @RHUganda Fort Portal Clinic for walking this journey with us.

We talked openly about the reality of HIV, how to prevent it, and how PrEP (to prevent HIV before exposure) and PEP (taken within 72hrs after possible exposure) can save lives. The energy, the questions, the honesty from the youth reminded me why education + access is everything.

Real transformation in SRHR advocacy starts from within.

You cannot preach what you do not believe in because when your message lacks personal conviction, it easily becomes biased, disconnected, or performative.

Being an SRHR champion isn’t just about amplifying voices it’s also about doing the inner work. That means unlearning harmful stereotypes, reflecting on your own values, checking your privilege, and staying informed about the issues you stand for.

True advocacy is rooted in authenticity. When you understand the “why” behind your message, your words carry more weight, and your impact goes deeper.

So before you speak ask yourself: Do I live by the values I promote? Am I willing to be transformed by the truths I share with others?
