Rhetorical Dilettante

nascent troll for democracy and decency

@GOP … green technology has been available for decades to get us off oil-dependency. When you stop pandering to the oil lobbyists then this will be a moot point. (But it also takes away something for the @gop to complain about. And I know where your priorities lie.)

[Rhetorical Dilettante @RhetoricBytes]

@GOP That’s a lie. Most were temp / contract jobs.

🏴Walking While Black🏴
The other day I was walking & stopped by the police. Eventually 6 police cars and 8 officers. There had been a hit & run. I was held for 45 min & frisked. The ass of the bunch abrasively asks: "Ever been locked up?" Me: "No, but I graduated from Harvard."

[Rhetorical Dilettante @RhetoricBytes]

@GOPChairwoman @GOP You have sold your own personal and professional integrity by sensationalizing nonsense. There is no woke mob, you know it, but the specific use of mob is meant to fuel the us vs them mindset since divisiveness is the only strategy the @gop seems to have to stay relevant.

[Ari Berman @AriBerman]

This is insane: Georgia Dem rep @Cannonfor58 was arrested for trying to watch Brian Kemp sign new voter suppression bill. Look at how she is treated by police. This is straight out of Jim Crow

True story.

@Thenewmatthew Tricky ... if it was a local shop I probably would buy, and treat them as I would any local biz and members in the community beyond political taints. Online is impersonal and no relationship to foster so I’d pass.

[Sister Helen Prejean @helenprejean]

On this #InternationalWomensDay, I pray that my church will one day place women at the center of dialogue and decision-making. The absence of women's voices from these spaces deprives the Church of so much practical wisdom. This needs to change.

[Michael Harriot @michaelharriot]

I have received a lot of emails pushing back on this quote from my mother.

“A black child’s humanity can never be fully realized in the presence of whiteness”

Some of them were genuinely interested in understanding why this is not racist.

NEWS: DOT inspector general asked DOJ in December to consider a criminal investigation into what it said was Elaine Chao’s misuse of her office to help promote her family’s shipping business which has extensive business ties with China https://t.co/6QEvllaDWD

@MiaFarrow Grind beans and filter-dripped. No question.

[Rep. Mark Pocan @RepMarkPocan]

I had a different speech prepared today—about the Equality Act and what it would mean to me & my husband of 16 years, Phil.

But then the @GOP showed just how willing they are to attack their colleagues, trans kids, & put their prejudice so openly on display.

They are bigots.

[Rhetorical Dilettante @RhetoricBytes]

@GOPLeader @JWallace2001 ... school started last Sep ... under Trump and GOP “control”... and he said it was up to state and local governments to decide ... are you implying that Trump bent towards science this whole time? Since Jan 2020 when he knew of the virus? Now you find the CDC credible?

[Dan Rather @DanRather]

It's impossible to comprehend 500,000 deaths. I read about those who have died. Look into their eyes in pictures. I start with 1 person, then 2, then more, imagining a chain of pain so long it feels unending. To those who've lost loved ones, I send deep condolences. I see you.

[Rhetorical Dilettante @RhetoricBytes]

@yes_to_unicorns Stunning ....

[Rhetorical Dilettante @RhetoricBytes]

@GOP You’re so desperate right now. Can’t even look yourself in the mirror, can you.

[Beto O'Rourke @BetoORourke]

BIG THANKS to the volunteers who made over 784,000 phone calls to senior citizens in Texas today.

You helped to connect them with water, food, transportation, and shelter.

And you made sure that they knew we were thinking about them and that they matter to us.

Goodnight!

And the Green New Deal just got another supporter!

[Julie Roginsky @julieroginsky]

I get it now. Ted and Heidi Cruz wanted their children to be safe, to have basic sanitary services like heat and running water, to leave behind a third-world apocalyptic nightmare for a safer place. Like so many parents before them, they decided to cross the Mexican border.
