A new gov’t but nothing new for Wales.
Stephen Kinnock belittling Wales, rejecting devolution of the Crown Estate as “process”.
And the new Welsh Sec kicking back on the principle of giving 🏴 its share of HS2 money.
We said they’d take Wales for granted and we weren’t wrong.
@Johnstrak With dairy (and largely cereals), you simply must have RT to sell your product. In that situation, there is no way it can bring a premium - it's the lowest common denominator. Further mission creep & loading of requirements will mean giving those extras for no further payment.
This isn't the win that Red Tractor think it is.
If the review has found that the GFC decision was reached correctly, it's evidence that the current way RT operates is not fit for purpose.
They still think it's a comms issue & not that RT brings additional cost but no premium.
@herdyshepherd1 This is being replicated in Wales with the SFS. It seems they have little grasp of how the ripple effect will devastate rural communities, economy, culture & language. This isn't just about farmers. E.g. reading the impact assessment on Welsh language last night - pure fantasy.
If anyone wants to understand why Welsh farmers are unhappy, please listen to this podcast. Excellent explanations by @AledNfu
If you have questions please ask. These changes will have huge impact on Wales. The impact assessment is devastating.

Supermarkets accept veg which is slightly smaller than usual because of extreme weather - rather than forcing it to landfill.
Absolutely bonkers that this counts as a good news story in our dysfunctional food system.

We’ve issued a Call for Evidence to industry exploring positive change in the tenant farming sector 🚜
It examines concerns about poor practice and the potential role of a Tenant Farming Commissioner.
The Call for Evidence runs until 8 February 2024.

Seems morally obtuse to refuse to address the root cause of a problem in the face of the science, then inform farmers you’re considering slashing the compensation they receive for your political obduracy.
Thread: Why are most carbon footprint estimates for livestock products so massive? In short: because they are based on a faulty methane calculation. EAT Lancet, Starbucks, Impossible Burger etc are drastically overestimating GHG from livestock and here is why. /1

TB testing week! Running 600+ cattle through the cattle crush twice, every steer will lose two days of weight gain this week, that’s 2 tonnes of daily live weight gain lost. Feeding 15 tonnes a day of forage and feed that’s 30 tonnes of evaporated energy. The hidden costs of TB.
