Last Thursday, I joined five Democrats at a candidate forum hosted by the NAACP and Shiloh Baptist Church.

My mission was simple: reach beyond party lines and share a common-sense plan to lower costs, create good-paying jobs, support small businesses, and strengthen American families.

While others focused on division, I focused on solutions. I believe Americans are tired of the finger-pointing and ready for leaders who will work together to solve problems.

That’s exactly the campaign we’re building.

Thirty years ago, I began a journey of service to our country.

Like many young Americans, I was searching for direction and trying to figure out who I wanted to become. Along the way, mentors saw more in me than I saw in myself. They challenged me, believed in me, and pushed me beyond anything I ever imagined.

Serving as a Navy Corpsman with the US Marines became the foundation of the man I am today. The Marines taught me what it means to lead from the front, embrace accountability, and never quit when others would. They demanded excellence, resilience, and selfless service—lessons that have guided me every day since.

The military gave me direction, discipline, purpose, and an unwavering love for our country. It taught me that success isn’t handed to you—it is earned through hard work, sacrifice, and determination.

Those lessons carried me through every chapter that followed—from military service, to protecting our nation at home and overseas, to serving my community today. They continue to guide every decision I make.

I’ll always be grateful to the mentors who invested in me and to the incredible men and women I had the honor to serve alongside.

Thirty years later, I still believe that service before self is one of the greatest callings in life.

God bless our military, our veterans, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸
