🚨Luka Modrić on Endrick at Real Madrid:

“I remember when Endrick first arrived at Real Madrid. After one of his early training sessions, he scored a fantastic goal from a pass by Toni Kroos. I called Toni afterwards and said, ‘Did you see how that kid finished that pass?’

Toni just smiled and said, ‘I’m not surprised. There’s a lot of ability in him.’

And he was right.

When Endrick scored his first goal for Real Madrid against Valladolid, you could see the quality immediately. The way he struck the ball, the confidence in his movement, the instinct to finish these are things you cannot teach every player.

Then came the nickname, Bobby. Everybody loved calling him Bobby, and one day I decided to ask him why.

I called him over and said, ‘Why Bobby? What does that name mean to you?’

He told me, ‘Modrić, whenever I think about Bobby and how much he delivered for his team when they needed him, I want to become that kind of player. I want to be someone my team can depend on.’

I remember thinking to myself, ‘Does this boy already want to be the player Real Madrid depend on in the biggest moments?’

At the time, I smiled, but I didn’t fully understand how seriously he meant it.

Now, watching him, I understand.

Carlo Ancelotti struggled to find a regular place for him, and he eventually went out on loan. When José Mourinho arrived, he wanted him to stay, but finding consistent minutes for him has still been difficult.

What impresses me is how Endrick handles it. Every time I look towards the bench, he’s sitting there calmly. He’s not making a scene, complaining to the cameras or allowing frustration to take over. He’s watching the game, waiting for his opportunity.

And when that opportunity comes, he plays like somebody who has been waiting his whole life for it.

Tonight against Roma, that was exactly what I wanted to see from him. When the coach gives you 20 minutes, 10 minutes or even five, you cannot come onto the pitch simply hoping to impress. You have to give him a reason to pick you in the next match.

You have to make him think, ‘How can I leave this boy out again?’

Endrick did that tonight. He brought energy, attacked defenders and played with the confidence of someone who believed he could change the result. He didn’t look like a young player grateful just to be involved. He looked like somebody who wanted to win the game.

And that is the mentality you need at Real Madrid.

I also think Vinícius could have benefited from starting on the bench tonight. He’s an incredible player, but sometimes competition for places is necessary. Nobody should feel that their position is guaranteed, regardless of their performances.

Arda Güler also deserves more playing time. When you have players with that much creativity and Endrick’s attacking instinct, you must find ways to use them. Real Madrid cannot depend on the same players every time and expect different solutions when matches become difficult.

What happened against Roma reminded us of something important: sometimes, the answer to your problems is already sitting on your bench.

José Mourinho deserves credit for making changes and keeping the team fighting, but the players who came on showed why they deserve greater consideration.

For Endrick, I hope this is the beginning of something bigger. He doesn’t need to score every time he enters the pitch, but he must continue showing that hunger, that courage and that willingness to take responsibility.

I told him once that I wanted to see him become the player Real Madrid could depend on when everything was on the line. Tonight, he gave me a glimpse of exactly that player.

And if you ask me, Bobby shouldn’t have to wait forever for his opportunity. At Real Madrid, you earn your place through what you do on the pitch and last night , Endrick gave his coach another very good reason to believe in him.”

لأن هذا أيضاً مهم.

أداء واحد لا يعني أنني يجب أن أبدأ به في كل مباراة. يعني أنه أعطاني سبباً آخر للتفكير فيه عندما أختار فريقي.

وهذا بالضبط ما يجب أن يريده لاعب شاب.

لقد درّبت لاعبين جاءوا إلى مكتبي يطالبون بضمانات. لقد درّبت لاعبين يعتقدون أن أسماءهم يجب أن تحدد أحد عشر اللاعبين الأساسيين.

إندريك لم يطلب مني ضمان أي شيء.

هو يريد فرصة، وعندما يحصل عليها، يحاول جعل الأمر صعباً عليّ أن أتركه خارج التشكيلة مرة أخرى.

الآن لديّ مشكلة.

لكنها مشكلة جيدة.

وأفضل بكثير أن يكون لديّ لاعب يسبب لي مشكلات بسبب ما يفعله على الملعب بدلاً من بسبب ما يقوله عندما لا يكون عليه.”
