STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE
PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES RANGERS ON WINNING THE NIGERIAN LEAGUE TITLE
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulates Rangers International FC on winning the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title for a record ninth time.
ย
The President congratulates the managers, players, and fans of the Enugu-based football club for finishing the last campaign at the top of the table with 68 points in 38 matches, ahead of their closest rival, Rivers United.
ย
President Tinubu recalls the incredible run of Rangers in the 1970s and 1980s, when the club won multiple league and FA Cup titles, especially in 1975, when they reached the finals of the African Cup of Champions Clubs, and in 1977, when they won the African Cup Winners' Cup.
ย
"I must also congratulate Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on the victory of Rangers International FC. This victory is an obvious fruit of his administrationโs investments in youth and sports in the state. I commend him.
ย
"As one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria, Rangers have produced some of the nation's finest football players who went on to make the country proud on the global stage. I am proud of their achievement," the President says.
ย
President Tinubu also commends Rivers United for an excellent performance throughout the tournament and for demonstrating good sportsmanship.
ย
He wishes both Rangers International FC and Rivers United the very best as they represent Nigeria in next season's CAF Champions League.

#NPFL26 Final Day: High stakes and heartbreak in the race for survival
The Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL enters its dramatic final act this Sunday, with everything from the championship trophy to top-flight survival hanging in the balance.
Rangers International hold a slim one-point advantage at the summit, knowing that a victory against Ikorodu City will guarantee them the title regardless of results elsewhere.
Ikorodu City on the other hand will be looking to secure a home win against the Flying Antelopes as they aim to finish third thereby qualify for the continental football next season.
Rivers United remain the only side that can usurp Rangers from winning the title capable of spoiling the party, though they must beat Katsina United and hope for a slip-up from the league leaders to snatch the crown.
Shooting Stars sit comfortably in third, and while the title is out of reach, they will look to end their campaign on a high note against a desperate Niger Tornadoes side.
The relegation battle is where the true chaos lies, with a staggering nine clubs still mathematically at risk of falling into the drop zone.
Niger Tornadoes find themselves in the most precarious position outside the bottom four, needing at least a point to ensure they aren't overtaken in the final hour.
Warri Wolves currently occupy the final relegation spot and face a daunting "must-win" scenario against Abia Warriors to have any hope of a Great Escape.
Remo Stars and Kun Khalifat FC are locked on 46 points, meaning even a draw might not be enough to keep them safe if the teams below them secure maximum points.
Enyimba FC, surprisingly entangled in this late-season scrap, must leverage their veteran experience to navigate a tricky final fixture against Elkanemi Warriors.
Plateau United and Elkanemi Warriors both sit on 47 points, hovering just above the chaos, but neither side can afford the luxury of a loss on Sunday.
Barau FC and Kano Pillars are technically within reach of the bottom four, though their superior point tallies provide a small cushion heading into the final matchday.
For Bayelsa United and Wikki Tourists, the mountain may be too steep to climb, as they require a complex combination of wins and heavy losses from rivals to survive.
With ten matches kicking off simultaneously at 4pm, fans should anticipate a whirlwind of shifting positions as goals fly in across the country.
Who do you think has the toughest mental hurdle to climb this weekend, the leaders under pressure or the teams fighting for their lives?
Look at where Nigeriaโs U17 girls team are being camped ahead of an international qualification game?
Do you still wonder why our underage teams now struggle to qualify for competitions? Coaching crew constituted late, players often โorphanizedโ in camp.
Zero feel of being in a national camp aside the overworn old green kits theyโre given. This is where NFF has put our football.
