Remember this is not providing more revenue for our economy. No extra teachers in the public sector, (in fact less), with now more kids to teach as children are forced out of their schools, away from their friends, and jobs lost. Private schools like small businesses (also closing at an alarming rate) pay taxes on profit, reduce numbers in public schools (giving more resources for those there) and again … provide jobs, where those employed also pay their taxes not take welfare. Politics of greed & envy are truly vile but also destructive to our economic health over all. But this is also hypocritical as universities selling their wears to more foreign students than British these days do not pay vat!
Durham High School, a private school with 281 pupils, is closing.
“For 142 proud years, Durham High School has stood solidly as a beacon of hope for girls who were once denied the education enjoyed by their male counterparts.
These halls have rung with laughter for 142 years”.
Sadly, @DurhamHighSch has announced its closure after 142 years of giving girls an education they for so long had been denied. This school has 281 pupils, leaving all but those graduating this year having to find a new school place and leave the world they knew.
That now makes 126 school closures. It doesn't have to be this way. We wish the students, staff and families all the best during this difficult time.

No, no, no!!

Its a serious criminal offence, now known to be a Cat 1A charge.
Straight to prison with you, NO BAIL, no mitigation!
I didn't make the rules! 🤷♀️
“The single decision Bridget Philipson made that has been most revealing.
“Eton and Star Academies wanted to open a great new free school in Middlesbrough to help more talented young people access the best universities - backed by funding from Eton.”
“When Bridget became Education Secretary she killed the project.”
Prejudice trumped social mobility.
The “constant chatter” you detect is the sound of more than 100 schools closing because Britain - uniquely in Europe - now taxes education. Or maybe it’s the noise made by thousands of parents beggaring themselves to keep special needs kids in school. If this is what makes you proud, I’d be fascinated to know what makes you feel ashamed.
For two years, parents, schools and campaigners have been accused of "scaremongering".
For two years, @bphillipsonMP has responded to concerns by saying she "does not accept" the evidence.
Today we publish a report comparing what Ministers said would happen with what has actually happened.
The evidence is not "chatter".
It is official Government data.

Just before PMQs, at the despatch box, she called one of my MPs a racist. She’s just said it again on Radio 4.
The hordes of Labour MPs rushing to twitter to whine about me calling her “spiteful” are just exposing their own hypocrisy.
They love to dish it but they can’t take it.
The number of teachers working in English schools fell by 1,900 in a single year.
VAT on Private Schools.
Stripped Academy Freedoms.
Repealed the Free Speech Act, leaving people defenseless against cancel culture.
