In 2018 when the NCAA recognized Utah they brought Whit the trophy. Utah was #1 in 4 of the 6 BCS polls. But because they were not in a BCS conference they didn't play

Utah was building the athletic department and was only giving 25 total scholarships. While byu had 64 and Ricks College to help develop young players. Ricks went no development
