@UtdEra28@nqatpod@fc_mossman I suspect both coaches are fatally flawed at the elite level in their own ways, but unlike his predecessor, I don't think we've seen enough to write Carrick off entirely in that regard
@UtdEra28@nqatpod@fc_mossman Does this mean I believe the results we've seen under Carrick are sustainable if his tactical approach doesn't evolve? Absolutely not
@nqatpod@UtdEra28@fc_mossman and tbf what's clearly happened since Carrick took over does neatly illustrate the main blind spots for data analytics in football imo, but I think most sensible people still recognise its immense value
@nqatpod@UtdEra28@fc_mossman i sense the data lads perceive some kind of existential threat in the idea the sudden simultaneous shift to worse underlyings and better results could be largely down to non-quantifiable factors... like if we accept this is likely then no one will listen to anything we say again!
@UtdEra28@nqatpod@fc_mossman as is often the case with social media discussion, i suspect the debate is mostly people just talking at cross purposes and we all probably agree on most things
@UtdEra28@nqatpod@fc_mossman i guess this is where the rancour in this debate comes in. i suspect most sensible people aren't being absolutist about it being a confirmed explanation, rather that it's strongly held belief. data scientists appear to deal in provable observations
@UtdEra28@nqatpod@fc_mossman i think the most imp element of the argument as I understand it is that the idea variance flipped overnight and that just happened to coincide with the change of the manager is frankly ludicrous.the evidence for this is entirely qualitative, but really clear imo
@UtdEra28@nqatpod@fc_mossman i agree with most of what you say, although I'd add that those explanations (in my view at least) are not inferred from results alone - although I accept they wouldn't necessarily stand up to scientific scrutiny
@UtdEra28@nqatpod@fc_mossman the evidence for dysfunction isn't *just* that the results were bad - but the evidence in this case isn't quantitative, which means it tends to be dismissed or ignored - irrespective of how glaringly obvious it was
@Bart91452028@kamilkazani where did you get communism from? sounds far more like just very mainstream european social democracy -which has been working out pretty well for those countries that use it (if the happiness indexes are anything to go by)
The entire world has been reliant on these Palestinian journalists as our eyes and ears inside the warzone that is Gaza - with each of their killing, our window into whatβs happening is impacted
