Good stuff!
Is the inverse of this available i.e. the bottom 100 MLB hitters in wRC+ from the ‘24 season graded out in bat speed, bat to ball, and swing decisions? % of each bucket scoring below 45 in BSG, SFG, or SDG
The key to growing understanding is not intelligence, it’s humility. If you realize you don’t understand the world, you don’t know everything. You can train yourself to see the world in what you don’t understand. Then, there are research questions everywhere-B. James #Analytics
@JeffStanek1 I heard of a community in the NE that did this. They had 4 fields , kids arrived at a certain time …kids divided by age, then kids picked teams and they played. Good turnouts. Would be a great off-season thing for facilities to do. A ‘give back’ to community and game.
If an athletes entire self-worth is tied to who they are as a player, every time they struggle it will be a threat to their identity.
BUT, if they look at being an athlete just as what they do, not who you are, and can separate the two, they’ll find themselves happier, they’ll be more present, and they’ll be able to give their best self in all aspects of their life.
This shift in perspective leads to way less stress, anxiety, and fear of failure, and leads to BETTER RESULTS coming their way as a by-product.
Which is why I believe the hallmark of a “successful” player is someone who is able to separate who they are as a player and who they are as a person.
