(2 of 2) His girlfriend/bandmate, singer Gloria Jones ("Tainted Love") was driving Bolan's purple Austin Mini 1275 GT when she lost control on a small bridge, hit a fence post and finally a tree. Jones was severely injured but survived. Bolan died instantly.

#TodayInHistory (Sept. 16th, 1977) singer/guitarist and #glamrock icon #MarcBolan of T. Rex was killed in a car crash. He was in the passenger seat not wearing a seat belt. He never learnt to drive out of fear of dying in a car crash ironically.
