The battleships of the United States Navy Battle Fleet steaming in formation off San Diego, California on 23 August 1935.
The video starts with USS New York (BB-34) at the tail-end of the formation, then her sistership USS Texas (BB-35). USS California (BB-44) is next, distinctive with her four triple turrets. Then comes the three Colorado class battleships, USS Maryland (BB-46), USS Colorado (BB-45), and USS West Virginia (BB-48) in that order. Finally, the battleship USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) is leading the formation. She was serving as Fleet Flagship at the time.
The total broadside of this battleline would have come out to twenty-four 16" (406mm) and forty-four 14" (356mm) guns! A very hefty amount of firepower.
