Vote NO on the Oakland County Enhancement Millage. Here’s why:
On August 4, Oakland County voters will decide whether to approve a new 1.5-mill property tax for six years that would raise roughly $126 million annually for local school districts. Oakland County ISD estimates it would provide about $781 more per student each year.
Here are the questions every taxpayer should ask:
Where is all the money we’ve already given them and what guarantees do we have that more money will produce better results?
Because that’s exactly what we’ve been promised for years.
Michigan has dramatically increased education spending over the last decade, yet today:
📚 75% of fourth graders are not reading at grade level.
📚 76% of eighth graders are not reading at grade level.
Michigan continues to lag nationally in reading proficiency and overall educational outcomes.
If more spending automatically meant better schools, then Michigan would be leading the nation.
Instead, we’ve watched bureaucracy grow while student achievement has declined 📉
The proposed enhancement millage contains no requirement that districts meet specific academic benchmarks before receiving the money. Funds are distributed on a per-pupil basis, and each local school board decides how to spend them.
That’s not accountability.
That’s a blank check.
Taxpayers aren’t saying “no” because they don’t support education.
They’re saying enough is enough to a system that keeps coming back for more money while producing fewer results.
Before Lansing and local education leaders ask families to pay higher property taxes, they should answer a few basic questions:
➡️Why are reading scores still falling?
➡️Where has the record education funding gone?
➡️What reforms have been implemented to improve outcomes?
➡️Why should taxpayers believe this time will be different?
Oakland County families are already feeling the squeeze from inflation, rising utility bills, insurance costs, and higher property taxes.
Government’s answer can’t always be “send us more money”.
Real reform starts with transparency.
It starts with accountability.
And it starts with earning the public’s trust before asking for another tax increase.
On August 4, I’m voting NO on the Oakland County Enhancement Millage and I strongly urge all of you to vote NO too.
Not because our children deserve less.
Because they deserve BETTER.

@mattvanswol I appreciate your perspective and insights regularly, but you don’t come across as intellectual when you cus like a mere man.
I too am disappointed with shortcomings the GOP.
Statement from DEA President Scott Munro:
“What we saw in Washington Square Park today was not harmless fun — it was a deliberate, outrageous, and dangerous attack on uniformed police officers. The Detectives’ Endowment Association is calling on Mayor Mamdani and District Attorney Bragg to ensure every individual responsible for this illegal behavior is prosecuted. No free pass. No get out of jail free card.
Make no mistake: detectives will do what they always do. They will identify those involved and they will apprehend them.
Our men and women in blue deserve to be safe. They deserve to be protected. And they deserve to be respected.
They earn it every single day.”
Time to get loud folks 🚨
Today the House takes up the Senate amendment that allows illegals to collect Welfare
If you want @SpeakerJohnson to remove that amendment to the bill, you know what to do
He'll see this.. if we get enough of a response
Speaker Johnson do your job
I’ll never use https://t.co/Sh9hoXSmOF again, sketchy.
How do you book a res, they cancel the res & then can’t credit my CC but ask me to call my CC to refute the charge first & come back if it doesn’t work.
Use hotel sites direct or @vrbo save yourself. This is your warning.
@RepJames So now were funding abortions? Funding transgender surgeries on children? Allowing kill switches on Americans’ cars? What is going on??? Are these in the bills you passed or not?
@SpeakerJohnson Is this what we're accomplishing? Funding abortions? Funding transgender surgeries on children? Allowing kill switches on Americans’ cars? We can do better--you need to do better!
@Riley_Gaines_ I'm not sure we get accountability of our leaders any longer. That's reserved for others. My hope is in Jesus alone (our governance is broken). I just don't see change coming in these cases. When will someone be held to account?
