I have seen a lot of commentary on a graphic used in my SM posts re my flags bill entitled “Striking the Balance”. This has rather missed the point. Flags celebrating sports clubs would generally be permitted under my Bill.

I apologise to @OfficialBlues for any offence caused.

Linfield FC was shocked and extremely disappointed yesterday to see that a local political party had used the Club’s badge in a political message linked to “abusive flags”.

The Club engaged at an early stage with representatives of the party responsible and secured the deletion of the offending post. A rather conditional apology from their South Belfast MLA has since followed.

With all due respect, and in particular context of previous issues between this Club and other elected representatives of this party, it is difficult to see any other reasonable interpretation of the use of a Linfield FC flag as the sole imagery accompanying an article referring specifically to “abusive flags”.

We did feel that the matter had been brought under some control yesterday evening, however, until an inappropriate and undignified late night intervention from that party’s leader.

Linfield FC now awaits full and unconditional apologies from the Alliance Party and the individuals in question.

It also states “tackling abusive flags” if the alliance party history with Linfield FC has anything to do with the graphic it’s hard to see past this

@CharltonPlaque I think we’ve a team capable (when all fit) to beat 7/8 of the teams in the league, I think quality over quantity and utilising the swifts players were not as dire as people would make it out, I genuinely forgot about Brown too, then it’s 4 quality players needed

A lot of Linfield fans worried following the clubs released players list, I think we still have a VERY effective spine of a squad there, we will need to recruit at a minimum
- Left Winger
- Back Up striker
- Right winger
- Back Up Center Half
- Back Up Right Back

@CharltonPlaque Had to have a go myself, with what we’ve got left, I think it’s a strong team and I reckon a true left winger (Offord when fit has to be squeezed in somewhere) and we’ve got a good 1st team, as you said build squad players and players with potential
