And the nature of hell is more about being eternally separated from God than solely eternal torment (I.e. 'bottomless pit' points to the continual falling further away from God)

In answer to your question sir, this looks and feels like step 1 in manipulation and control.

Talking 'principles' from here, there and everywhere in scripture divorces meaning from a verse or passage and blurs thorough application. It's a no from me.
