I believe that a life without communication is not a life worth living and an unexpressed thought is not a thought worth thinking. So naturally I never shut up.
@ChloeNumberIII They’re very different. Kieran is just in the category of actors who have very distinct mannerisms which can easily be dismissed as “always the same” along with folks like Hugh Grant, Morgan Freeman, Natasha Lyonne… all great actors, all constantly knocked for unique voices.
@Lons Wasn’t Scarjo attached to an unnecessary Little Shop remake for a while? She has had this impression in the chamber for years, nice to finally see her get some use of it. We still don’t need a remake though.
@HockeywthHannah I like to think Amanda slyly suggests inviting the Lawrences into a foursome at least once a week and Daniel misunderstands every single time.
@GraceRandolph Like most replies, it’s mostly about Anora herself and Mikey’s performance. She’s an intricately drawn and intriguing character who feels enough like a real person while also playing up a sexualised fantasy. The shifting tone of the film pivots around her, always with empathy.
@Schaffrillas My only disagreement is with Conclave. That would be an inspired musical, the cast even all dress the same like a chorus! And each competing cardinal can have their own little melody introducing themselves like in Cats. And you know how musicals love ominous Latin harmonies.
@blewis1103 The Substance is one of those movies everyone assumes would be hated or avoided by lots of people, but that’s clearly a minority. It’s fun, well made, relatable, unforgettable, has international appeal… It’s definitely going to get plenty of #1s and could steal some from EP.
@TheDarkPages I had no idea she was his daughter! I don’t know how I never knew, but I suppose it shows how his death has overshadowed his life in the last 40 years.
@W_Defender@Srirachachau Sabrina Carpenter was put on this earth to do the greatest ever rendition of “When You’ve Got It Flaunt It” and it’s a crime it hasn’t happened yet.
@franklinleonard Imagine getting so incensed by the presence of Daniel Kaluuya and Youn Yuh-Jung… I don’t remember either of those wins were remotely controversial at the time, they were universally acclaimed performances.
@DPD_ My theory was either Marion Cotillard (because European) or Emma Stone (because musical, and previous year’s winner was always included last time)
@Srirachachau Whenever I try to explain Twin Peaks to someone who hasn’t seen it, I always fail to describe how fond all these weird characters are of each other. They live in hell but there’s so much underlying affection. So when Log Lady and Hawk are suddenly besties it just makes sense.
