@BarstoolBigCat for the past two years, my friends and I have been using your computers weekly rankings to have our computer rank our fantasy teams every week. Here’s one of our more recent ones. Thank you for your service
You know what’s greener than air travel?
Literally almost anything, including alternatives like High-Speed Rail.
It’s time we build the rail network America deserves.
Being unhealthy is painful, being healthy is painful, having no relationships is painful, having relationships is painful, being lazy is painful, working really hard is painful.
It's just different flavors of pain. So you might as well pick the flavors of pain that are gonna help you and give you a better set of life
I've received a bit of pushback on this. Politics bore me and I really have no time for it. Like I said at this press conference, I'll stand together with anyone who is serious about eliminating parking mandates. @OmarFatehMN and @IlhanMN are serious, so I'm here with them. This is good for Minnesota and good for America. I hope many more join us.
And, FWIW, why is the government forcing families and businesses to build parking spaces they don't want or need? That's what a parking mandate is. That's what this simple and focused bill prohibits. This is core @StrongTowns and it should happen everywhere.
It is a bizarre day that the socialists support limiting government interventions and the libertarians (at least those that showed up) support government mandates. Check your heart, friends. This isn't about politics; it's about leadership.
You know that saying, “It's none of your business what people think about you”? That should be true with yourself too. It's none of your business what you think about you. Just fucking do good things and stop worrying about yourself so much.
When towns make their main streets car-free for events, the community comes alive. Streets become safer for children to play, businesses boom, and unproductive parking lots turn into public squares.
Imagine the possibilities if they did this more than just a few times a year.
Streets were once a form of public space where people could walk and linger, so they were narrow with compact buildings. Today, the majority are built for motor vehicle travel, so they're wide with spread-out buildings.
Which is the stronger street?
Walkable urbanism is so underrated.
Today I woke up, walked my daughters two blocks to pick up donuts & coffee, then walked to the the park one block in the other direction.
Now I'm sitting watching them play by the lake after another five block walk.
Zero cars involved.
Everyone should have this luxury.
Normalize and zone for walkable neighborhoods.
@the_transit_guy If you’re going to be this close to neighbors with no yard, build townhouses/condos. Wouldn’t it make more sense to build a community where people could walk to restaurants and entertainment? Sounds impossible for the US other than a select few cities
I love how America is so car brained that people are treating one of the most gorgeous public spaces in our Nation’s capital like a drive thru safari to see some blooming trees.
Ok gang we have entered the quickening phase of events. The news flow on many fronts will be fast and furious.
Remain calm & avoid fear and panic. The world is not ending. Just changing.
