@BenisonMrs Saving this. Why do people resist progress monitoring? Here are a couple of thoughts...
-They think it takes time away from teaching? They don't view assessment as part of teaching.
-They don't understand/value the assessment? Ex- CBMs are WIDELY misunderstood.
Other reasons?
@alexislmartin @IBJIYONGI @ClassroomWonder Because it can, and should, happen simultaneously. Read aloud, discussions, and vocabulary study pared with systematic, explicit phonics instruction.
@rpondiscio@VeraGavrilovna@DanaPalubiak Amen @rpondiscio Guaranteed and viable curriculum! Kids shouldn't have to win the teacher lottery to access critical content and knowledge. Conversely, Kids shouldn't be deprived high quality curriculum simply because a teacher "doesn't like it" or understand it.
@heymrsbond My dad was an airline pilot- they NEVER put up with anything less than top pay, deference to their professionalism, supreme benefits, etc. They went on strike during the 80s...a LOT. None of them called each other whiners. Male dominated profession gets WAY more grace.
