Charlie Kirk was more committed to peaceful, open dialogue with those who disagreed with him than anyone I know. God blessed him with immense gifts, and he used them boldly and without fear. He knew the risks he was taking, but he did it anyway because he loved his kids & felt a responsibility to the nation they would inhabit. I traveled the entire country with him last year, we spent 1x1 time together in Ohio two weeks ago, spoke to him again 2 days ago. He’s long warned of the rise of political violence & the growing culture of assassination, when few were willing to listen, with a clarity of vision unlike anyone I’ve known. Completely and utterly devastated.
Erika Kirk, wife of Charlie Kirk, posted a Bible verse just hours before he was shot at a Utah event:
"Psalm 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
What a tragedy. It has been announced that Charlie Kirk has died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University today. This young man loved his country and invested his time and energy in trying to make it the best it could be. He stood boldly for conservative values and defended free speech for all of us. Most importantly, Charlie loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for his wife Erika, their two young children, and all of their family. It’s in these moments of darkness that we need to stand on the Scripture that Erika shared on social media, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Charlie Kirk is with the Lord. To live is Christ and to die is gain. His voice and witness of Truth will not be silenced but will rather inspire courage in a generation of young men and women who will continue to boldly proclaim the message of Life and Hope. Jesus is Lord
You can’t look like the world when you want to and look like Jesus when it’s conveneint.
True discipleship is not about fitting Jesus into your life. It’s about surrendering your life fully to His call. Have you put your hand to your calling with no intention of looking back?
Are you all in or just adding Jesus to your plans when it’s convenient? - A 🧵
Jesus said in Luke 9:62 that “no one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Being a disciple requires your undivided focus and attention.
Following Jesus means leaving behind your old ways, your comfort zones, and your divided heart. It means committing fully, without turning back, without second guessing, and without trying to merge His truth with your preferences.
The younger & newer you are in leadership, the more you think, "I wish I could go to that meeting."
The more tenured & higher you are in leadership, the more you think, "If only I didn't have to go to that meeting."
🚨URGENT PRAYER UPDATE FROM THE MARTINS
Tyler and Ashley have given their lives to sharing the hope of Jesus. Now, in this difficult season, they need the body of Christ to surround them in prayer.
