For #ManuscriptMonday we have the ‘Kafka’ sketch miscellany, Add MS 29801. "This section dates from about 1811 and shows the in-demand #Beethoven at work on music for the play Die Ruinen von Athen (‘The Ruins of Athens’) – now most famous for its overture and ‘turkish’ march."
Beethoven exhibition update: a few weeks ago we had some new arrivals, on loan from Berlin - including the autograph manuscript of the Ninth Symphony and one of the composer's conversation books! @britishlibrary

Fantastic Beethoven exhib at the @britishlibrary - incredible range of archive material, from the manuscript of the 9th to the great man’s laundry list. Hugely insightful (but digestible) picture of his life and work. Plus a fab opportunity for a self-indulgent photo.
Have you ever wondered how conservators prepare an item for display? This blog post details the conservation of a Beethoven manuscript known as the ‘Kafka’ sketch miscellany (Add MS 29801). The manuscript is on display now in the Beethoven exhibition.

The Beethoven exhibition at the British Library has prompted a very helpful blog on important Beethoven material at the BL: Music blog https://t.co/Tojal6zxyA
