"Storming the Ivory Tower" was released yesterday and was #1 on Amazon's lists of New Releases for both Educational Reform and Government & Social Policy.
Not only is this an important story about the recapture of a public institution - but Chapter 9 lays out a template for how reformation can happen at any public university. #reformhighereducationnow
Founded in 1960, @NewCollegeofFL set a new standard for academic rigor and innovation and has been ranked the #1 public liberal arts college by Washington Monthly for three consecutive years.

We’re proud to see retired Marine and New College of Florida Assistant Vice President for Emergency Management, Todd Kerkering honored by the Philadelphia Phillies.
“Florida’s higher education system is strongest when institutions work together with clarity of purpose, fiscal responsibility, and a shared commitment to students. As the end of the special legislation approaches, the potential transition represents a thoughtful and forward-looking opportunity to expand New College’s capacity while preserving continuity for the Sarasota-Manatee community, its students, faculty, and staff. We are grateful for the collaborative leadership of @USouthFlorida, the Board of Governors (@SUS_Florida), the Legislature, and Gov. DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) throughout this process.
New College is prepared to steward this transition with care and intentionality as we continue building a nationally distinctive public liberal arts institution focused on academic excellence, civic discourse, innovation, and student opportunity. We look forward to working closely with regional leaders, faculty, staff, and community partners to ensure a positive long-term outcome for the region, for the State University System, and for the future of higher education in Florida.”
Statement from Richard Corcoran (@richardcorcoran), President, New College of Florida
New College of Florida is so excited and honored to be displaying segments of the Berlin Wall on our campus. Thank you to Dr. Jack Jawitz for the incredible donation!
Congratulations to all of the participants at the @civicsanddebate State Championship. The champion of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Debate, Gavyn Purvis, received a historic $50,000 scholarship and trophy honoring the legacy of Charlie Kirk. The scholarship was generously provided by philanthropist Patricia Duggan.
Thank you to @richardcorcoran and @NewCollegeofFL for hosting the State Championship, one of the most impactful civics events in the country.
With continued support from @GovRonDeSantis and state legislators like @JenniferCanady_ these students are sharpening the skills that will shape our nation for years to come.
.@AGPamBondi has been an amazing attorney general for our state and for our country. I am honored to call her my friend and am grateful for her commitment to public service. Can't wait to see what she does next!
Glad to spend time with dedicated educators at Montford Middle School’s fish fry alongside my good friend, Senator Bill Montford.
I also had the pleasure of congratulating the basketball team on their district championship and addressing math students about the value of striving for academic excellence.
Thanks @NewCollegeofFL@TPUSA for hosting me and to @LeadershipInst for your support to bring conservative ideas to college campuses across the country. Always great to see my friend, fellow reformer & NCF President @richardcorcoran.
This is the Education Freedom Generation!
New College of Florida welcomes all ideas and view points. We’re honored to host guests like alumnus Rick Doblin and many others to share their views and debate. Who should we have at our Socratic Stage next?
“New College of Florida is committed to the ideals present within this compact, and we have already been instituting them for the past two and a half years.” said New College of Florida President, Richard Corcoran. “We have no affirmative action or DEI, and we have been building a campus where open dialogue and the marketplace of ideas are at the forefront of everything we do. We believe a student’s success comes from their character and their merit, not their race, gender, or sexual orientation, and we would be honored to sign the Trump administration’s compact.”
