@DiaBraveSid If I were charged with 'reimagining' them for ML, literally my first thought would be upscale them so that the core bot is more of a traditional carbot size. Actual working treads on the sleds too π
Sideswipe came a little later (the first TF I got after my birthday in 1987). Bought, probably with birthday money, from Makro in Sheffield. Sunstreaker meanwhile is the gold box Classic version, from Co-op in Chesterfield, 13/4/90... Ratchet is the Encore release from 2007.
@DiaBraveSid Yeah they do look great and I'm getting them (cos obvs ML is fantastic!), but still can't escape an uncanny valley feeling that I can only compare with Hayden Christensen being edited into A New Hope π€£
@ToyboxSoapbox I could do a whole thread just on comic memories lol. Funny how looking at a cover can take you back to a specific time and place. But issues bought while on holiday is especially potent!
Here's some TF40th context for my own personal 'Class of 1984' Autobot toys. Starting with the iconic Optimus Prime! (the animation was done before we even knew about Missing Link btw). Prime was my big xmas present in '85 (alongside Bee, Skids, Laserbeak/Frenzy and Beachcomber).
I have a distinct childhood memory of a European boxed Ratchet sitting on the toyshelves of Debenhams in Sheffield for eons. Would often see it & wonder if there was a rare non-UK catalogue inside. Never wanted to buy it because the tech specs were in a language I couldn't read!

Brawn was the next TF I got after my birthday, bought from the John Menzies shop in Newquay while on summer hols (that same holiday I also bought Mirage and Breakdown). Ironhide is the later gold box Classic release (Toys R Us Leicester, 21/2/92, Β£11.87).
As a side note, although I still have him, my original Jazz toy is so yellowed, and the stickers faded and worn, that I decided to use the TRU reissue Jazz I picked up in the 2000s (you can tell by the 'Meister' rather than 'Martinii' deco).
One last International Jazz Day post... My caricature from 2014 of the original Jazzmeister: the late great Scatman Crothers - the voice of G1 Jazz!
Jazz hands everybody! πΌπ·πΊπ #Jazz#Transformers
Since it's International Jazz Day (π·πΌπΊ) here's my animated version of Jeffrey Mangiat's original G1 Jazz box art. I usually create my own alt mode art for these, but here I used an actual 1984 Hasbro ad (artist unknown) for his alt mode #Jazz#Transformers

Transformers Season 3 Titles: The Kup/Springer mash up...
In the original titles the central guy appears to be a Kup-coloured Springer. In my ReAnimated version I used Springer but edited his colours to look more like Kup... (I didn't do blueface Magnus though!)
