Very late to discover this one. Raw and authentic, as Bunker spent plenty of time in jail. 1970s LA at its bleakest. And he was Mr Blue is Reservoir Dogs.

James McArdle has all the best lines. Profound at times, amusingly banal at others. Great entertainment and hard to believe it was written in 1982.

Crisp, concise mystery (150 pages) that seems to end too quickly, in a rush of revelations. Good view of 1950s Japan. Originally titled ‘Points and Lines’ in a direct translation of the Japanese.
