Every January, I have a personal ritual: I go through my phone contacts and social media “friends list” to clear out old connections: people I haven’t spoken to in years or those who haven’t posted in a long time. It’s my way of starting the new year with clarity and peace.
I’ve never been one to delete or block someone just because we disagree on religion or politics. Different views are healthy; they keep us thinking, growing, and grounded in the freedoms we cherish. But there’s a line I won’t cross.
After the tragic loss of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, I came across a few individuals, people I once knew, saying truly vile things about him. Some even celebrated his death. That level of hate has no place in my life. I immediately removed and blocked those accounts. Not because they disagreed with Charlie’s views, but because of the cruelty and inhumanity of their response. No one deserves that.
Charlie built a platform that welcomed open dialogue. He gave the mic to those who challenged him, something very few people in public life have the courage to do. He believed in discussion, not division. And yet, many who disagreed with him worked tirelessly to silence, shame, and destroy voices like his.
Today, I came across another so-called “friend” spreading hateful lies. That person is now gone from my page, too.
We all have freedom of speech, but that doesn’t mean freedom from consequence. When words become weapons, they create real-world harm. I won’t be part of that.
I also took time today to unfollow and block several accounts on X, mostly political figures and celebrities who use their platforms to spread anger, bitterness, and division. Not just toward Charlie, but in nearly every post they make.
This isn’t about silencing anyone. I still follow people I disagree with, but if your voice fuels hate and misinformation, I have no space in my life for it.
Social media doesn’t give us a “dislike” button. So I’m using the tools I do have to quietly step away from the noise. I encourage you to do the same. Take back your peace. Clear out the negativity. Start fresh.
Here’s to clarity, courage, and compassion in the year ahead.
The spending and NAEP reading numbers appear broadly accurate. But the historical comparison oversimplifies things. McGuffey Readers didn’t single-handedly create 90% literacy, and NAEP “proficient” doesn’t mean students below it can’t read. Still, the bigger question is fair: if spending keeps rising, why aren’t outcomes improving proportionally?
I looked into this because if true it would be major news. I couldn’t find any official statement, Senate record, or verified source showing Sen. Kennedy called for Bill Gates to be investigated for “$1.3B COVID fraud.” If there’s a hearing clip, official quote, or document, I’d genuinely like to see it. Big claims need actual receipts.
@DerrickEvans4WV I approve of everything Trump posts. Because everything Trump says or does sends Democrats off the cliff. I love every single minute of it and every single word.
@Ilhan We already have a perfect system. The only problem with this system that we have is that Democrats don’t obey the laws of this country, even though they played a big role in creating these laws. Democrats think that our laws are arbitrary. Speaking of which, you must be deported!
