I have shot here a number of times. Every time I find new angles. New space. New creative direction. From retro living rooms, to funky decorated rooms with book cases, to a super cute house in the trees that reminds you of something out of Swiss Family Robinson.
Jennifer’s Garden doesn’t disappoint.

One of my favorite parts of these sessions is finding places most people would never think twice about.
A quiet county park far from town. Wildflowers. The last light of the day. Nothing elaborate. Just enough room to slow down and see what's already there.
That's one of the things I love most about Society 512. Every year, we head out to places like this, try new ideas, meet new people, and create experiences that are about much more than photographs.
The images last, but it's the evenings spent exploring, laughing, and making memories together that tend to stick the longest.
I'm getting ready to put together next year's Society 512 Creative Team. If you think your teen would enjoy being part of it, head over to my website and fill out the inquiry form. I'll be sharing details about this year's information meeting with interested families soon.

One of my favorite details about this session had nothing to do with the photographs.
The Chevelle was hers.
We spent the evening wandering through the wildflowers, climbing in and out of a car she's loved for years, and waiting for the last bit of daylight to disappear.
Turns out a silhouette and one last dance were a pretty good way to end the day.

South Padre has its own pace. Slow. And slower.
Give me sunshine, a little wind that keeps the hair from cooperating, and a lighthouse overlooking the water, and I’ll be perfectly happy. A few favorites from a weekend spent on South Padre.
There are worse ways to spend a weekend than chasing the sun down the South Texas Coast.
It’s not too late to squeeze in a session along the Texas coast.

Not every wedding needs a grand ballroom or hundreds of guests.
Sometimes it's a quiet chapel, a handful of the people who matter most, and a promise made before God.
Everything else is just decoration.

This is a bit of a drive to get to, but Enchanted Rock is a killer place to shoot.
One of those off the radar locations.
I know the good spots. And fall is a great time for this location!
Worth the drive!

This little girl was on the floor, by herself, when I took this photo. She had kind of been left out of a game.
So, I sat and played with her a few minutes.
After warming up, she let me take the “snap”.
I LOVED her toboggan. I tried to bargain with her, but she was one hard customer! Lol!

Family ranches have a way of holding onto memories. Every fence line, old tree, and pasture has a story behind it, even if the rest of us never hear it.

Some locations end up on my list because they're beautiful. Others stay on the list because they're just hard to get to.
Prada Marfa had been one of those places for a long time. It's not exactly somewhere you swing by on the way home.
From the first time I saw it years ago, on another trip, I knew I didn't want to photograph someone in a dress out here. I wanted clean lines, a tailored suit, and something that felt like it belonged with the architecture sitting out in the middle of West Texas, in the Chihuahuan Desert.
It took a while to make it happen, but I don't mind waiting for the right person and the right timing.

I don't think these three ever stopped moving.
They bounced between flower girl duties, porch swings, conversations that only made sense to them, and the occasional reminder that they were, in fact, part of a wedding.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, they decided I was okay.
That's usually when kids stop noticing the camera and start letting you into their world a little bit. You quit photographing flower girls and start photographing personalities.
This smile lasted maybe a heartbeat.
Fortunately, that's all a camera needs.

Every once in a while an outfit already knows where it belongs.
Sierra picked this dress up on a trip to Greece and when she showed it to me, I thought back to a trip out to Llano I recently made and how a lot of the little storefronts would work really well.

I don't know everything this little girl was carrying or the burdens she was experiencing, but I do know there were people who cared enough to stop what they were doing and pray with her.

Childhood has a way of slipping by one season at a time, sneakily.
One spring it's baskets full of wildflowers and fields of crimson clover. Before long, those little moments become the ones you miss the most.
Moments like this are a big part of why I love photographing kids and teens.
If you'd like to learn more about my Society 512 Creative Team for Teens and Kids, and the creative sessions we plan throughout the year, head over to my website and fill out my inquiry form to be added to the invitation to my information meeting coming in September.
There's also a great bonus for the whole family!
