One more thought about my last post.
We’ve known each other for over five years now, and there’s actually something about this whole dynamic that I find genuinely fascinating.
The person he is in his everyday life is so different from the side of him I get to see.
And sometimes I think about how strange it is that I probably know things about him that nobody else in his life does.
He keeps coming back to me, not just to serve, but to talk. About his thoughts, his experiences, his fantasies, and things he probably wouldn’t feel comfortable telling anyone else.
Because he knows he can trust me. He knows he can tell me pretty much anything without having to pretend to be someone he’s not.
And I think there’s something genuinely beautiful about that.
Someone can have an entire life outside of this dynamic, surrounded by people who think they know him, while there’s this whole other side of him that he only feels comfortable sharing with me.
I don’t know. There’s something about being trusted with a side of someone that the rest of the world never gets to see.
And as much as I enjoy laughing at some of the ridiculous things he tells me, I don’t take that trust for granted.
It’s actually pretty special.
