ATIKU’S BORDER CLAIM: WERE THE BORDERS CLOSED?
Attention has been drawn to comments by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his plans to reopen Nigeria’s land borders if elected President in 2027.
As the Minister of Interior who supervises the Nigeria Immigration Service being an agency of government in charge of border and migration management, it is expedient to state that Nigerian borders are not closed and so cannot be reopened.
On 16 December 2020, the previous government reopened Seme, Illela, Maigatari and Mfum, with the rest to follow. Idiroko and Ikom were reopened for goods and services on 20 April 2022, and Kamba and Tsamiya, in Kebbi State, followed under the current administration in February 2026, linking to Niger Republic and Benin Republic respectively.
The former Vice President named Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin Republic specifically. The prolonged closures on the Cameroon border, at Banki and Amchidé, did not arise from the 2019 trade policy at all. They date to 2014, when Boko Haram forced their closure for security reasons, and reopened in 2019, with Fotokol and Gambaru following in 2021, after joint military and stabilisation efforts by Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad.
Folding this separate, security driven history into one continuous 2019 shutdown misrepresents two distinct issues, trade regulation and counter insurgency, as a single failure.
Not every northern crossing is fully unrestricted today. Where banditry or residual insurgent activity persists, tighter control is a deliberate security judgement, not neglect, since reopening ahead of the security situation would expose traders and border communities to greater risk.
Modern border management is not a choice between total closure and unrestricted movement; it requires security, documentation, customs compliance and controlled trade facilitation together.
Political competition should not become a competition to rewrite recent history. If he has a new border proposal, he should set it out and explain how it differs from the current approach, rather than treating separate trade, security and infrastructure issues as one and the same.

THIS IS NO LONGER A FIGHT FOR ONE; IT IS A FIGHT FOR ALL.
Pending receipt of a substantive response from MTN Nigeria, my legal team @losensolicitors and I are currently collating information from MTN subscribers who have experienced unusual, unexplained, excessive or disputed
Just so you know, I totally DETEST cheating so I won’t rest ooo until this matter is duly resolved. There is absolutely nothing extraordinary I’m doing that warrants me using 700gb in 3 freaking months ‼️‼️
Dear @MTNNG , it is with a heart filled with joy I use to inform you that you have until 11:59pm Monday, 31st of August to duly respond to my comprehensive well broken down mail with a duly comprehensive report and review 🤝
Remember the people that came through for you. To see helper is hard. Some of you feel entitled to help as if you gave someone money to keep for you. But when they help you, you are not grateful, and very forgetful.
Be good to your friends. To have friends, you must first make yourself friendly. We talk a lot about bad friends, but are you a good friend? Some of you want to connect with only people above you. Have you been good and respectful to the friends at your level and beneath you? There is no class in friendship. You have a responsibility to be there for your friends and be an anchor of hope and safety for them.
Love your partner. Choosing to date them, imposes a responsibility to love and to cherish. Their heart should feel light because they have you in their life. You should always find new ways to love them and make their life better. To love is to give, so GIVE and keep GIVING. Do everything you can not to break the trust they have in you because trust is a fragile thing.
In every sphere of human relationship, there is an acceptable code of conduct and you don't breach that. I hope you experience the kind of relationship that works easily and humanely, where cruelty doesn't intercept the bond you share.

OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA: TROOPS ARREST TERRORIST COLLABORATORS, DESTROY ENCLAVES IN KADUNA, KATSINA STATES
Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA recorded further operational successes in Kaduna and Katsina States, arresting suspected terrorist collaborators, intercepting weapons and ammunition, as well as destroying identified terrorist enclaves during separate operations conducted on 27 and 28 August 2026.
On 27 August 2026, troops of Sector 1 acted on information regarding the apprehension of a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State. The suspect was found in possession of 2 locally fabricated guns and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag. During preliminary investigation, the suspect disclosed that he had been tasked to deliver the weapons and ammunition to another individual.
Acting on the information from the suspect, troops swiftly conducted a follow-up operation and apprehended 2 additional suspects connected with the movement of the weapons. The 3 suspects, along with the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation.
In a separate operation on 28 August 2026, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, conducted clearance operation against identified terrorist enclaves around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. Troops successfully cleared and destroyed the enclaves and other structures used by the terrorists to support their criminal activities.
During the operation, troops also cleared and destroyed an enclave linked to notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has been terrorizing innocent civilians in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas. The terrorist leader narrowly escaped as troops advanced towards the enclave. Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items. Troops thereafter conducted further fighting patrols within the general area to consolidate the gains and deny the terrorists freedom of action.
These successes underscore the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and other logistics, and deny terrorists the use of enclaves across the Joint Operations Area. The Joint Task Force remains resolute in taking the fight to the terrorists through coordinated and intelligence-driven operations aimed at degrading their capabilities and restoring lasting peace and security to affected communities.

In 2019, when ₦700,000 was about $23,000, 23 states couldn’t pay salaries.
In 2026, when ₦2m is about $17,021, no governor is owing salaries.
So, Mr. Rufai, when govs celebrate ₦3trn in FAAC, it’s because it solves ALL their problems.
This is why economics isn’t your field.
They recognize Fela globally as lord of Afrobeat but nyamiri like @alhajitekno is comparing someone like Fela to an Onitsha beer..parlour highlife artist 😭😭🤣
