Ok here an example for you:
According to the LDS website in the King Follett Discourse, Joseph Smith claimed that God was once a man like us. Its on your website look it up. So according to your own founder God had a beginning just like the rest of us. Now lets look at what the Bible say about God. FYI I hope you know what eternal means. For this I will be using logos software and the King James version of the bible since that is what the LDS missionaries use when they come to my door.
Lets start with this:
Genesis 21:33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.
Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms: And he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; And shall say, Destroy them.
1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
I think you get the point here. God is eternal, everlasting. He had no beginning and he will have no end. According to you own prophet God had a beginning. Now the question is who should we believe?
Have a great day and thank you for the discussion.
@Santo_Andyroo@TribeRuffner So just because I wasn't moved to tears and converted instantly to a Latter Day Saint must mean I didnt actually read it? Is that what you're saying? Muslims say the same thing about the koran.
It's a always been a sticking point. Just like horses, chariots, livestock, and anything else that wasn't here before 1492. It will always be. The only answers the LDS church give are vague and mostly just nonsense. There is zero historical evidence for the BOM. There are no ancient manuscripts. There is no archeological evidence. There are no ancient artifacts. Nothing exist prior to 1830.
Ok. Start at reading at Genesis 1:1 and dont stop reading until you get to Revelation 22:21. As you read note all of the scriptures that contradict the Monmon beliefs. Now you will probably notice its every single verse but dont worry, anyone that reads it not looking through the lenses of LDS theology will f I nd this as normail.
Ok we are going to discount any Mormon sources because they do not align with scripture.
Now lets explain the actual Bible verses you gave as proof:
Hebrews 12:9โจFurthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Heb 12:9.
The spirits he is talking about here are the souls of humans. This does not mean eternal spirit children.
โขJob 38:7โจโWhen the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?โ
In ancient Israel theology the morning stars are the heavenly host (angels for non divine counsel folks) not spirit children. Read Matthew Henry or Dr Michael Heiser for further understanding of this.
โขRevelation 12:4โจโAnd his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earthโฆโ
โขRevelation 12:7โ9 (War in heaven and Satan cast out with his angels)
Revelation 12 is a passage about the birth of Christ. The third of the stars is ambiguous. The Bible never says they are angels just that he swept a third of the stars from heaven. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that a third of the angels rebeled with Lucifer.
@NateBornAgain@CNN Honest question:
Is it possible to earn our salvation throughworks?
If we can't earn our salvation through works how are we able to lose it through works?
@jsclark5768@LadyDemosthenes You are correct. Only God is eternal.
Everything else had a beginning.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting thou art God. (Psalm 90:2, RSV, https://t.co/SrTwlij3Wy)
