This memorable 250th celebration of our nation’s independence has now drawn to a close. As Christians, may we rededicate ourselves to following Christ with a fireworks-type fervor by unashamedly declaring His good news to people who need to hear and heed it. Now is the time!
As we celebrate 250 years of our nation’s history, let us remember the dedication of our Founders and reflect on the many heroes who have fought since then to preserve that precious freedom. https://t.co/ebGQQBfg4h
Pam and I saw Young Washington. We highly recommend it to all, especially those who are most patriotic. Let’s make it the #1 viewed movie. This will send a message to our critics and detractors. Blessings to all as we celebrate 250 years as a nation.
During the tumultuous days of the Revolutionary War, as "heroes fought in liberating strife" for the cause of freedom, relatively unknown men and women quietly did extraordinary things for the cause of Christ. Today, as Christians witness the unfolding of an unwelcome moral revolution, there are still "saints behind the scenes" faithfully making a difference for Christ. We should all be grateful for them.
Throughout the years, I’ve read many leadership books. Some have been excellent; others, not so much. Some time ago, I realized my greatest leadership inspiration came from reading biographies. As we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, consider reading a biography of one of our Founders. It couldn’t be more timely.
Let us remember to pray for pastors' families today. Pastors are often lifted up, but their families need prayer just as much. Growing up in a ministry home can be challenging, and a pastor's wife plays a pivotal role in the life of a church. May these families be immersed in prayer by each of us.
Rejoicing with Hunter Street Baptist Church as it affirmed Chandler Snyder today as its new senior pastor. Please join me in praying that the Snyder family and the church family will experience great joy as they serve the Lord together and seek to reach the world for Christ.
Pam and I are glad to be back with the FBC Pell City church family. Pastor John Thweatt is a veteran leader. The church is a strategic lighthouse in that growing area of our state. What a blessing!
My heart aches for the people of Venezuela. Please pray for them during this critical time following the major earthquakes. Any donations given through https://t.co/jJx9i1AhT0 and marked for Venezuela Relief will be forwarded to the International Mission Board as it works with the National Baptist Convention of Venezuela to provide much-needed resources.
Let us pray that our churches will have a laser focus on being obedient to the Great Commission. Making disciples is still our mission, despite all the distractions we face in this chaotic world.
Join me today in praying for our military families. Pam and I live in a neighborhood where these families are a part of the community. For obvious reasons, they are moving to places around the world. They need to know the Lord and walk with Him as they serve our country.
I received a letter from one of our Mission:Dignity recipients. He responded with gratitude for the additional three checks. He said, “I am homebound, but my prayers are not earthbound.”
“Either the world will change China, or China will change the world.” — Sam Brownback, former U.S. senator, former Kansas governor and international religious liberty advocate
Happy Father’s Day to all the men who have the privilege and responsibility of serving in such an important role. At a time when our culture devalues the biblical family, stand firm and remain faithful like never before. Godly fathers are true DifferenceMakers.
Grateful for the recognition of Major James Capers, Jr. as a Medal of Honor recipient. Major Capers overcame racial prejudice to become a leader in the Marine Corps. He served heroically in Vietnam, helping to save the lives of the men under his leadership. A great example of sacrifice.
Let us pray today for those we know who are suffering. Their problems may be physical health issues or emotional challenges or even struggles with their mental health. Some are wrestling with God spiritually. They need to know the Lord, and we certainly should pray for them.
I am praying for the numerous Vacation Bible School events across Alabama and beyond. I can remember VBS experiences in my childhood, especially the one which was instrumental in my coming to Christ. VBS is still the most effective evangelistic opportunity today to reach children for Christ.
David Dockery, president of @SWBTS, has distinguished himself as a turnaround leader. He has proven that a leader does not have to be flashy to be fruitful. As a calm and convictional man of integrity and fidelity, David has been faithful to the task for decades.
