Ready to start advocating for laws to protect digital content and digital storefronts? Or are we going to make empty threats about becoming "retro games"? The latter? Thought so...
Former PlayStation exec Shawn Layden thinks Sony’s PC ports U-turn doesn’t make much sense.
"If someone’s waiting 18 months for something to come on PC, we didn’t lose a sale to them. They weren’t going to buy the hardware anyway.”

Samuel L. Jackson said he told the producers he wouldn’t make the movie unless it kept the title Snakes on a Plane.
Samuel L. Jackson:
The movie went smoothly, it was fine. It was just when we got there, it was like Terror on Flight 272 or some shit. And I'm like, "What is this?"
"Well, you know, we don't want to give it away."
I'm like, "That's the fucking point! What's wrong with you people? It's Snakes on a Plane. If it's not Snakes on a Plane, I'm not shooting an inch of this fucking movie, I'll go home right now."
And it was like, the next day, we had new slates with Snakes on a Plane.
We have gone from zero Donkey Kong 64 recomps to now TWO Donkey Kong 64 recomps; both in development and out "soon"...so lets take a look at the new one (vid in reply) #gaming#gamingnews#retrogames#donkeykong#N64
Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden says leaving PC is a mistake.
"If someone's waiting 18 months for a game to come on PC, we didn't lose a sale to them—they weren't going to buy the hardware anyway."

@ShowTimeSteve16 I'm gonna download Deadpool from his archive page one day and see how that works on Deck. Just the fact that I have a working version of Bloodstone is pretty exciting for me. Could never get that to work, no matter where I downloaded it from.
@ShowTimeSteve16 I couldn't really speak to the majority of them. I did download 007 Legends as well, and did the same thing as with Blood Stone. Legends doesn't run as well though frame rate wise, and has some Mouse acceleration issues, but I think those issues are just baked into that game.
@ShowTimeSteve16@KazamaNabil@RohanKarMooN Incredibly straightforward. I literally downloaded Bloodstone the other day myself, added the .exe as a Non Steam Game, set it to proton experimental, and it works flawlessly.
@GLRRPY It reminds me a lot of VR. A lot of investment in infrastructure, but the route to profitability is hard. These companies will eventually have to raise subscription rates on their AI services, then you'll see even more of a drop off.
I see this stupid shit (questions that could have been easily answered through Google pre AI) and all I see is the price of an SD card going up and up. When the AI bubble bursts, it will be spectacular.
This is evident in the fact that most games don't come with a tacked on Multiplayer mode anymore, there is no market for it. Story driven games are what they do well, stick to that.
Then you'll continue to lose money. This isn't 2008 when you could make your own franchise in a popular genre and get a decent market share. The vast majority of the market are tied to the handful of popular live service games that already exist.
Sony says it will continue pursuing live service games despite challenges:
"We believe that live service games are content that attracts users on a global level, so we want to continue to revitalize the market through both first-party and third-party content," said SIE president Hideaki Nishino.
"With live service games, it's important to continuously provide something. The genre itself is relatively new, and I think many people are trying various things, so we also want to continue to take on challenges within that context."
