@lafih22@robprogressive You basically just summarised why people buy to let... to preserve there savings.
Because the value on money goes down. So they move it to something that preserves the value, if money held its value people wouldn't need to buy houses to rent
@lafih22@robprogressive You are missing the point here.
Cheap credit was made available because of money printers and fiat money not being controlled by a standard IE gold.
When you have nothing to peg a printable money system then it gets abused.
This happened all through history.
@lafih22@robprogressive Fiat was pegged with gold hence the gold standard.
House prices stayed stable and affordable due to gold.
Once unlimited printing started prices of everything boomed, not just houses but generally the whole cost of living.
@louderry Minimum wage is part of the problem. Higher bottom earners, means higher cost of living for everyone, including the Minimum wagers.
Higher tax free freshold so everyone benefits makes more sense.
@lafih22@robprogressive Prices do not go up, money loses it value.
Value a house vs gold, not Fiat.
House prices are around the same 1950 if valued in gold

@Femi_sorry People forget it would be possible from the savings but the funds are spent by the government not the people pushing for it.
Tories screwed us over and now Labour prefer to spend the money on welfare screwing us over again
