@Feargal_Sharkey How were we hoodwinked into this? Adding a level of profiteering into a necessity will make our bills cheaper because we’ll have a choice of which pockets we’ll be lining? So paying someone to do my supermarket shopping will reduce my grocery bill? It’s the same principle! 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Feargal_Sharkey Temporary nationalisation? Handing it back to the government so the taxpayers can directly foot the bill for fixing all its problems, then returning it so the privateers can up the bills to recover ‘lost revenue’. Sounds like a bargain! 😡

@Feargal_Sharkey @thameswater I don’t understand how they can even blame it on weather? The stream isn’t exactly in full flood, is it? It’s simply cheaper and therefore more profitable to dump rather than treat. If they get caught and fined? They go cap in hand to the government for funds and we pay the fine.

@JujuliaGrace Perhaps if we stopped using NHS funding to pay the huge profits of companies to ‘provide services’ and paid the NHS to provide those services at cost, we’d get better value? If you pay enough to make a job attractive, people will want to do it. More staff = lower waiting times.

@Feargal_Sharkey @mikekatz @thameswater It costs exactly nothing to stop bailing them out every time they come cap in hand for government funds to pass on to their investors under the pretence of improving the infrastructure. Watch how quickly the share price plummets when investors get no more guaranteed dividends.

@Feargal_Sharkey Instead of fining them a mere pittance, how about forcing them to not increase their customer prices whilst being charged the full amount to clear up the mess they’ve made!!???

@Feargal_Sharkey @guardian Surely if Thames Water is that much in debt, bring in the receivers and declare them bankrupt. Sack all managers as failed to maintain minimum standards. Sell of the assets for a token amount, £1, to public ownership and run it for public service, not profit! How hard can it be?

@Feargal_Sharkey Strange that I don’t see car companies being constantly propped up by public taxes because they owe too much to be allowed to sink. Neither do they insist I have to pay for a new factory they can’t afford, increasing their debt even further which makes them safer from failure!!

@Feargal_Sharkey It’s the use of the word ‘spills’ that gets me! You spill your coffee. You spill your soup. You don’t accidentally spill thousands of gallons of sewage. It’s not something that a tissue can mop up! This is deliberate dumping to avoid expensive processing! It’s a criminal act!

@JujuliaGrace We already have an insurance based system. You pay your national insurance, you get free medical treatment. It’s worked fine up until now. Nobody makes a profit though, that’s the painful part to the Tories!!

Water and power are necessities of life, not luxuries to be sold for profit. Who on earth would think that making profit from essentials is a sensible idea? They should be free or at least sold at cost price only!!
