I am a moderate to conservative Dem and believe in a balanced budget, a strong defense, and help for our citizens who are struggling to survive in a shrinking economy and jobs that pay less and less. I want a path to citizenship for those who come here legally, and a bus ride back over the border for those who come here illegally. I would like our migrant farm workers to be paid a decent wage and that they have a path to citizenship.

prove it. show me the numbers, the convictions, show me the court documents of those who were charged. You are repeating lies that have been made up by Donald Trump and his regime and amplified through allied news organizations. None of this happened and just because Trump says it doesn't make it true. These are lies and embellishments- so provide links to the actual facts that back your accusations. You wont because you can't.

technically correct on Maine. But most dont memorize our dl lic.# so we remove it from our wallet and show at registration. I am in favor of a National ID for citizens. No ID, no vote, No ID, no welfare, no Healthcare. But lets approach it from a bipartisan coalition, and put on safeguards that protect the integrity of the election, that cannot be manipulated by a sitting President.

There should be no Feseral oversight by law. You guys are creating hysteria out of nothing so you can restrict our voting rights and guarantee your control over the legislature and white house. This isn't about confirming identity it is about throwing the poor and disenfranchised off the voter rolls because they generally vote for democrats. It is not possible to commit massive fraud when each state handles their own elections. If we cede those Constitutional requirements to the Feds, a strong arm thug President can seize and manipulate the results in his favor. no thank you.

All this Republican created drama makes me laugh. For years, the lovely older woman who checked my signature, was also our Town Clerk. She knew everyone in town, there was 0% chance someone else could vote in my place. In Maine, they checked my driver's license. Yet when Dems asked for a National ID years ago for every citizen, who successfully opposed it? You guessed it-the Republicans. The irony is astounding.

Dear Billy Joel,

Congratulations on a successful career. You wrote some truly memorable songs. Now you have lost the motivation and truly you have earned your right to retire. As for the rest of us aging songwriters who have not enjoyed the commercial success and who are still inspired to write our best material: we continue to improve our craftsmanship, even though the music industry is geared to the younger generation (this is nothing new). Your judgment of older artists reinforces the industry view that older artists are not relevant, and you denigrate our works as mediocre without ever listening to our creations. There are some that believe your youthful success was overblown, and while commercially successful, your writing lacked the depth that your fellow writers exhibited, such as Springsteen, Bono, Mellencamp, Elton John and Bernie Taupin, McLaughlin, and Petty or the energy of Madonna, M Jackson, and of course Prince. Still your success doesn't mean that you can use your platform to attack older artists. You are entitled to your opinion but perhaps you should consider the responsibility you have to respect others who continue to be inspired to create great music and not use your voice irresponsibly simply because you ran out of gas yourself. Enjoy your retirement, Mr. Joel, and try not to spit on the rest of us.
