The Col de Montségur is a 7 km climb at 6,5%, with some steeper kilometers in the middle and just before the top. It's hard enough to scare the sprinters, but not for GC action, ie perfect for breakaways. #TDF2026

Second day, still in Barcelona, with at the end two and a half laps of Montjuïc circuit, ie three passages over Castell de Montjuïc climb, already seen in last stage of Volta a Catalunya, but with a different approach, making it harder. Topped with 2,4 km to go. #TDF2026

As well said by @cronoescalada, it would have been more interesting to change the order of the first two stages, with an hilly first day, the stage everybody was waiting, and a second day TTT. #TDF2026

The day we were all waiting for. #TDF2026 starts in Barcelona with a TTT finishing in Montjuïc after passing in front of some of the city most famous locations. The route is flat until km 15,4 when they will tackle the first climb, with 300m at 10,3%. Decisive last 4,2 km.

“I did not get out of the Giro completely on my knees. That makes it so you can recover faster afterwards and start your training and get into a good rhythm quicker. If you are on your knees after the Giro, you need two weeks, maybe even more, to recover.”

L Then it is hard to start building towards the Tour because then the Tour is already coming. For me at least, I came out of the Giro in a good way and pretty quickly I could start building towards the Tour de France.”

“We tried something new, which was also the plan, because I think we realised after last year that it was not really so enjoyable to do what we did every year. So now we tried to mix it up with the preparation for the Tour, and it has been going really well this year. Also in a mental state, I am in a very good place.”
