@moving_charlie Is this an April fools joke?
One minute they're putting up state pension age, and saying it's unsustainable, next oh let them have it early. Clearly not the solution to over inflated prices. Let the market decide, the property prices are too high.
@moving_charlie@United053651221 Just about to buy my next house but haven't sold the one I'm in yet, they want an extra ยฃ18k and apparently I have to claim it back once I've sold the old one. I always thought you had an overlap period, but obviously not
@moving_charlie I wouldn't be embarrassed, more worried about security in a private rental especially approaching retirement. The last thing you need in later life is being forced to look for another rental
@mongrelcelt@moving_charlie@BankrolledInc It was a double edged sword for me.
I started a small business supplying estate agents signs in 1985. Going great until 1989, turned over ยฃ100k/year. 1990 was ยฃ25k ๐
@mongrelcelt@moving_charlie@BankrolledInc Sadly, very f'ing well๐ญ
My mortgage doubled in 1991, ยฃ1400/month, had to sell & lost 25% of what I'd paid for the house in 1989
@mongrelcelt@moving_charlie@BankrolledInc It took a very long time, probably helped to finish my first marriage, and I totally lost confidence in buying another house for a very long time.
I spoke with other people years later who were in the same boat. They were unemployed, the government paid the interest, & survived
@RachOZoe@moving_charlie@mongrelcelt@BankrolledInc I guess at least you didn't go into negative equity and need to move? But luckily you managed to weather it out, it just showed everyone how easily things can change. Get on the ladder they said, you can't go wrong ๐ญ
@moving_charlie Maybe, but I'm convinced that most come up with a 'value' based on what they paid x number of years ago.
I recently been looking at houses nearby that sold for around ยฃ270k 3-4 years ago, now asking ยฃ330k-370k
Doesn't make any sense ๐
@moving_charlie So if you bought in 21, you'll be coming off interest free this year and now paying interest on an extra 40%. That's gonna hurt a lot of people ๐
@IBCA_UK It did read as though a more personalised letter has been sent out confirming what data has been received.
The October communication was rather more general and referred to a data transfer if we agreed
