A periodic reminder: Jane Street is hiring front-end devs!
https://t.co/luQEuLdZFg
It's a different flavor of front-end work than you might see elsewhere, but it's great if you love UIs, FP, and type systems that are ergonomic and reliably help you get things right.
@kc_srk@yminsky Yeah I think that’s right. The --export flag might help here? I’d hope that if you narrowly scoped the modules you wanted to interact with in the blog then the DCE would kick back in on the hidden modules. https://t.co/Bju166sRha
@kc_srk@yminsky JSOO+Base bundle size is definitely large but 270MB sounds at least an order of magnitude too big. Is this in the context of compiling a toplevel? Maybe because it can’t do any dead code elimination it really balloons in that scenario? A static program should be a lot smaller.
"Data race freedom in OxCaml" https://t.co/6K0fkitNxI
Every code block is a live x-ocaml cell, an OxCaml toplevel running in your browser, with errors and all. Type into the examples and the compiler talks back.
@rescriptlang has been doing awesome work for years, building a joyful experience for web apps in a typed language. Jane Street can’t directly use ReScript for compatibility reasons, but I’m so excited that we get to spend some time together and share ideas with this community.
@avsm@yminsky @tmattio_ You mention some struggles with getting LLMs to see the output - we’ve had excellent results using expect test output for bonsai_term apps. I’d encourage you to try them out - the agentic loop with them is astonishingly good. https://t.co/nhszid4982
After talking about it for many years, we've now got a Bonsai-based library for building terminal apps. You can find it here:
https://t.co/eLZqgd26BM
We've already used it internally to build a bunch of rich terminal apps. Hopefully others will find it to be useful as well!
Is your company using ReScript in production? I'd like to hear about your experience, good and bad!
DMs are open, reach out! I'd like to understand how the ReScript experience can be improved for companies.
RTs for reach is welcome 🙏
My favorite auth service is on product hunt. Solving auth with Graphql is genius for multiple reasons for example if on of the vendors changes the schema your code won’t break.
Congrats @sgrove https://t.co/bRyT22Z4d5
@arnarths @aweary Facebook has folks reviewing who are fluent in almost every language. Not sure on Icelandic in particular though. Regardless, defaulting to allowing content you don’t understand sounds terrible. DM me more details and I’ll follow up.
I spent the last 2 years working in the @NYCMayorsOffice. Last night I was arrested by NYPD for violating @NYCMayor's curfew while participating in a peaceful protest, and then questioned by the FBI. Story about what happened and what I saw in the thread below.
