@NerosCinema Funny thing is I can see them teasing than adding it as a LTM early on, but around halfway through S2 or early S3 saying "the data 🤓" says more ppl don't really play classic mode so they removed it from rotation.
@C4Dishonorable@tdawgsmitty Theater mode I'm personally not upset over since that was a big reason cheats went around and the reason the Xbox versions are dead wager matches I don't get why tbh
If Xbox made this statement the Internet would be on fire I have not seen as much negativity surrounding this as of right now but it's still early no matter the company this is bad for all of us
On the same day Sony told a billion gamers to embrace digital forever, it quietly showed them the catch.
Two announcements, one blog, an hour apart.
First: from January 2028, no new PlayStation game will ship on a disc, digital only.
Second, buried below: Sony is closing the online stores for the PlayStation 3 and Vita, so you will no longer be able to buy games there at all.
Read together, they are not two stories. They are the whole argument about what you actually own.
A disc is the last thing in your home a Silicon Valley company cannot reach. A PlayStation game from 1994 still works today, and the law lets you resell it, lend it, keep it forever.
That is ownership. It is protected by something called the first-sale doctrine, and it applies to physical objects. It does not apply to digital purchases. That is not Sony being cruel. That is the quiet legal truth underneath the whole shift.
Sony's own spokesperson said it plainly today. With all digital content, you are not buying the game. You are buying a personal license for non-commercial use. Not the thing. Permission to use the thing, which depends on the company's servers and goodwill. They once pulled a game called Concord two weeks after launch. Buyers got refunds, but the game itself simply vanished.
This was never really about discs versus downloads. It is about moving the largest entertainment medium on Earth from a world where you own an object the law protects, to one where you hold access the law treats as rented.
Convenient, cheaper, and easier for almost everyone. Also revocable in a way a disc never was.
The click of a disc into a console was ownership. The download is permission. Sony just showed you, in a single morning, how differently the two age.
Do you agree with what Sony did??
I see we have people who got their business degree from Twitter-U weighing in on the price increases. This has nothing to do with XBOX. Apple increased earlier today, PS will increase soon, and other electronic companies will too.
Asha even said they are paying 5x more for hardware than they were. You really expect a company to continuously take a $100-$200 loss on every console sold? I've said it before and I'll say it again, some of y'all would bankrupt a company in less than 24 hours if handed the reigns.
I don't like price increases as much as the next person but calm down the performative anger/finger pointing/rake stepping claims when you know this has nothing to do with XBOX, Steam, Apple, Playstation, and others. This falls on the AI bubble not bursting and component makers taking advantage of shortages/demand outweighing supply.
PlayStation on the Bungie layoffs today:
"We have made the decision to reduce Bungie’s workforce, affecting a significant number of employees, including most of the Destiny team and some Marathon team members."
I’ve spoken openly about XBOX’s share of blunders, but there’s a long history of the company being judged by harsher standards and held to materially different expectations by publishers and media. It’s an observable asymmetry that’s shaped the platform’s perception for years.
Asha Sharma’s appointment reflects a long-term commitment to rebuilding the brand. Her mandate is to reset the business, and the two exclusives mark the beginning of a long-term strategic roadmap.
So PlayStation closes studios, announces them that they will be going back to exclusives and everything was ok.
Xbox closes studios, announces them that they will be going back to exclusives and @GameOverGreggy literally says fuck you xbox “stop making hardware” and goes on a fully blown tangent of hate and foaming at the mouth disgust and hate.
Where the fuck are we at right now with gaming media doing this spreading absolute crap to everyone.
Yes layoffs are absolutely disgusting and I wish everyone can get back on their feet but the response has been so one sided in terms of hatred #playstation #xbox #pc #nintendo
As soon as XBOX went back to exclusives the media is going so fucking hard to destroy them and spread FUD and confusion……I never saw anything like this
@MrsMagdaBeard Tarifs also hit hard ppl who would normally buy new cars or lease them every 3 to 5 years can't afford to do so there buying up the used ones driving up demand also ppl in general don't have money as much so used cars are the way to go now I sane these prices
In 2013, the entire internet (rightfully) cooked Microsoft for the Xbox One’s mandatory 24-hour check-in DRM. It was a PR disaster so bad they had to do a total 180 before launch just to survive.
Massive waves of people fled to PlayStation, claiming they were "voting with their wallets" for "the gamers" and "ownership."
Fast forward to 2026, and those same people have spent over a decade building massive digital libraries in the Sony ecosystem, only to find themselves dealing with the exact same "periodic authentication" DRM they claimed to hate back then.
The funniest part? Watching those same people now do absolute mental gymnastics to defend it. "It's just a bug!" "It's for security!" "Who stays offline for 30 days anyway?" The gaslighting is incredible.
Turns out the DRM wasn't defeated in 2013; it just waited for you to get comfortable and trapped in a digital ecosystem.
Pay close attention to see how fake this video is it's sped up look at where the cursor is placed and pay very close attention to the curtains in the background also it shutting off at 86% is sleep mode
