As somebody who places millions of pounds of bets a week, I would have thought trading on betting exchanges was the perfect foil to show up the ignorance and bias in the affordability checks debate.

Not because I can do that, but because it demonstrates that many people can do that and bet safely without an issue. The debate is stuck in an era that doesn't exist any longer.

Also, take a look over at the US and the explosion in activity on prediction markets. Yet here we are in the UK, wondering whether somebody can afford a few quid a month on a bet. And people wonder why we're in such a mess in the UK!

I'm always disappointed that nobody takes up my offer, either in the industry or on the research or regulation side. I can explain what the world looks like now rather than what it looked like a couple of decades ago.
