@TPS_BikeHart@TPS_pke_rider@TrafficServices@TPScott_baptist@TorontoPolice @TPS_Ang Welcome back! Have been encountering a lot of parked cars blocking bike lanes on Woodbine just south of Lumsden. Sent you a few tweets with video but you were on holidays. Happens a lot & seems to be related to a convenience store on the west side of Woodbine.
Asshat in little blue car #ONDYNH5 blasts me twice with his horn, then rolls his window down and tells both of us that we are not in the left turn lane. Aren't we supposed to ride beside cars? Where is there room for a left turning cyclist here?
@m_holloway@Ward14Bikes Thank you for those wonderful lanes on Woodbine! Those and the ones on Cosburn are a cyclist's dream! Today AGAIN car blocking the Woodbine lane. This time southbound just around Lumsden. I think it has something to do with a minimart on the west side of Woodbine. Rude IMHO.
@Bike_DE @bdollack ... In addition, cars around you are trying to maneuver into the right turn lane to head on to Millwood. This is all uphill by the way because the elevation climbs from the intersection for a good 500 meters so riding in the middle of the lane with the cars, unless you can do...
@SeveranceCaro You started by saying "I hate to agree with..." so my response to him and to you is that I was not doing anything illegal such as obstructing traffic π
@Ward14Bikes@m_holloway We're always riding in blind spots along beside traffic. The nut of your argument is not that I was doing anything illegal, but was doing something you do not approve of π€·ββοΈ. I see you've retweeted a slew of my old tweets. Looks like a gangup. Blocked. PS: none are in Ward 14
@bdollack The other things you mention are in violation of the Highway Traffic Act. What I did was not so your comment that "Cyclists should be able to do this" misses the mark. In fact they can legally do this now.
@BOWZ6CV Should is for you. Would is for me. I was not in violation of the Highway Traffic Act nor of any city bylaw that I'm aware of. All of the criticism here is of the "should" variety, as in "You should do what I do."
Former Liberal transportation minister Steven Del Duca has written an op-ed for the Star about his role in securing the approval of a $100M GO station in his riding. It contains some serious distortions of the record. Here comes a thread. https://t.co/Q8yIATVMAC
@SeveranceCaro What I did was perfectly acceptable: I wasn't obstructing him. Your suggestion is welcome but as they say in the motorcycle world, ride your own ride, K?
More bike lane blocking northbound Woodbine just south of Lumsden. This morning around 11 AM. This is the 4th time in 7 days. Could be more, I didn't ride there the other 3. #ONAP40501@TPS_BikeHart
@Ward14Bikes Nah. I wasn't obstructing. He had lots of room to get by. What you're suggesting is that I ride in the middle of the lane with the cars. Where else would you recommend this? NOWHERE!
@BOWZ6CV @bdollack I wasn't trying to go against the system which, at this intersection, makes no provision for cyclists. The asshat had lots of room to go by me. I wasn't obstructing.
Yesterday ~10:30AM Yet another car #ONBXVE724 blocking northbound Woodbine bike lane just south of Lumsden. It was only Tuesday and this was the 2nd time in 3 days. @TPS_BikeHart
Truck #ON2645K0 blocking northbound bike lane on Woodbine near Lumsden around 10:30 AM. I often see vehicles blocking the n/b bike lane at this spot and time for some reason (twice this week so far and twice last week) @TPS_BikeHart
