“People who are motivated are not lucky. They are conscientious. They choose to use their minds in a more purposeful way in order to energize and lift their lives.”
Brendon Burchard
Never forget that talent is a gift. Greatness, however, is a choice. Greatness is rooted in decision making requiring deliberate actions. Consequently, greatness is never achieved through indecision.
Excellence should motivate us to do what we should do, when it should be done and to do it exceptionally well. Excellence means spending our lives doing what is needed as opposed to what is convenient.
Success is most often measuring yourself against other people or competitors. Excellence, however, is measuring yourself against your own potential. The pursuit of excellence moves you closer to your potential while maximizing your personal abilities and skills.
Often we find ourselves trending toward mediocrity. We rationalize own weaknesses, making excuses. Consequently, our potential is never achieved. However, those pursuing excellence (self-imposed standards) intentionally cultivate a ‘vision of greatness’, which they chase daily.
Development in real time is messy. If it is your intention to be exceptional, know this: there are no shortcuts. Development is a long process requiring tenacity, resolve, commitment, toughness and most importantly, a learning posture.
Passion: Something by which you have been affected. It is what fuels us. Passion fuels the intrinsic motivation to persist in the face of adversity. Many are talented. Few persist. Passion trumps talent.
Excellence in our personal lives can only be developed through deliberate actions. Those actions, ordinary in themselves, when performed consistently become habits. Perfection in our lives may not be attainable but excellence can because it is driven by our intentions.
Greatness in our lives, no matter the area, is never achieved through indecision on our part. Rather, we need deliberate and intentional actions. That is what moves us towards greatness and assists us in being our best when our best is needed.
Wherever your feet are planted, bring value. The most important conversation you have today is with the person in front of you. Show respect and kindness in the way you speak to and treat people. See the best in others.
“Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.” Martin Luther King

Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report....think(meditate) on these things. Great advice in these challenging and confusing times. Philippians 4:8
Influence can be a by-product of effective leadership; it is not synonymous with it. You can have influence in a person’s life without leading him/her anywhere. The key is to combine influence with a commitment to serving others. That is a leadership model worth emulating.
The single, most admired characteristic of effective leadership is honesty. People are willing to follow leaders who are truthful, ethical and principled. A truthful leader can be trusted. Ultimately, a leader’s effectiveness is built on trust. So, how is your ‘trust’ quotient?
Comparison leads to one of two places: inferiority or superiority. In either case, you arrive at a bad place. You can always identify someone who isn’t as good as you. But, to what end? Comparison needs to be against yourself. Am I better today than yesterday?
