This is the 26th Israeli military raid on the campus since 2002, and the 7th since October 2023. It coincided with the start of the new semester as students prepared a protest for Palestinian prisoners, including the 150 Birzeit students currently held in Israeli detention.
Today, Israeli forces stormed @BirzeitU for the second time in less than a month, breaching the campus with a convoy of 20 military vehicles. Witnesses reported soldiers firing live ammunition and tear gas at students attending lectures, injuring 41.
On Tuesday, the Israeli military invaded Birzeit University, attacking students with live ammunition.
Israel's scholasticide is a core part of its attempt to obliterate the collective life of the Palestinian people.

On 6 Jan 2026, Israeli forces raided Birzeit University while classes in session. Several students were injured.
‼️ Silence and inaction risk abandoning the most vital foundations of Palestinian society.

Bayan Haddad, of Birzeit University's School of English, delivered a very moving talk at QUB today on scholasticide in Palestine. One line in particular resonates: "Palestine is like a lighthouse"; the genocide has shined a scorching light on the terrible ills of the global North
We're holding our trade union organising conference in London today, with a packed agenda and plenty of discussion about how workers across Britain are organising to end all complicity with Israel's crimes and oppression of Palestinians.
General strikes across Europe show workers’ power to block the war & genocide economy. Join our TU meeting this Wed with speakers from Italy, Greece, Palestine, Egypt etc to strengthen coordination & stop the colonial “peace plan.” #FreePalestine

BREAKING: Trinity College Dublin (TCD) becomes first university in the West to comprehensively cut ties with Israel.
We warmly welcome the historic and principled decision of TCD to sever institutional ties with the Israeli State and complicit universities and companies.
I call it genocide because IT IS genocide.
Defined by intent, not by method or means.
Visible without magnification—if we look with context, at the victims: what they share is being part of a group, as such. Because of it, they get killed, tortured, maimed, starved, raped, massacred. In dozens or hundreds daily.
Genocide is a process, not a single act.
A collective act. A criminal venture.
To end it, we must first be willing to see it.
“They killed my mother — and before that, my brother. I urge everyone: do not go to the American aid distribution points soaked in blood. This bag only contains 2 empty flour sacks — nothing else — & yet they shot & killed my mother as she tried to get us something to eat today.”
