"How dare you patronise me." Do we we need a referendum on the ownership of our water? @barrymward and @OrielCelt have differing opinions. @TheHardShoulder

Absolutely.
And that’s why the @Right2WaterIRL fight against the commodification and privatisation of water was so important.
Interesting read.

Have a listen to this. The memories it brought back of the policing of R2W demos & protests, including one where Gardai deliberately collapsed an agreed escape route on #Dec10. It led to disabled children being trapped & Gardai refused to allow them out.
Brilliant podcast. Please give it a listen. The next time (and it might be soon) we have to battle the state over water, we need to be conscious of who we’re up against ✊
We have a new episode tomorrow, with Bernie telling us about how experience of policing during the Water Protests. Subscribe at https://t.co/smFxf4Y9xP to have early access #protest#policing#righttoprotest
Some of the biggest users of water in the state, including 21 bottling plants, will go unregulated under new laws being proposed by the government

The EU pressured Ireland into abstraction charges for water. The govt's response? Set allowance so high almost no company is impacted. The allowance is 2m litres PER DAY, Facebooks data centre used HALF that last year & its what 18,000 homes use on average

@Right2WaterIRL Cork County Council have been in our estate the last 2 days digging up water isolation points on the footpaths & installing what looks like holders for new water meters in houses that didn't have meters & new section of pipe in those that did
The #PfG abandons the #Right2Water referendum on public ownership of water. The one that passed unanimously in the Dáil in 2016 yet was delayed constantly by FF/FG. The @greenparty_ie had the chance to include it but they chose to pursue water charges again instead 🤷🏼♂️
The government, #IrishWater and the regulator all conspiring to bring in their Trojan horse of excessive usage charges. Don’t fall for it. #Right2Water

FACTS MATTER
Households use 10% of the water but are expected to pay 78% of the costs. Corporations, agriculture and business use 90% of the water but are expected to pay 22% of costs.
Bear that in mind as you watch this 👇

@HeresHowPodcast@WBrowne2014@caulmick@NaomiAKlein@MaudeBarlow@foodandwater@euwm 1. That’s not what we said, but hey, you put words in our mouth if it helps you win an argument in a childish fashion.
2. How many times have you called for abstraction charges (for-profit companies using water with no costs). You seem obsessed with penalising 99% to get at 1%
Vast majority of #Right2Water supporters- including @NaomiAKlein, @MaudeBarlow, @foodandwater & @euwm -are environmentalists. RTE again show they live in a bubble & cannot comprehend water charges do NOTHING for the environment. They simply hurt poor people #GreenWave#LE19
@HeresHowPodcast@WBrowne2014@caulmick@NaomiAKlein@MaudeBarlow@foodandwater@euwm Not sure how doubling the cost of infrastructure will help you? Would you not think that increased commercial water charges and abstraction charges are more appropriate and cost less to implement? Especially as they use more water. Or do you just wanna target poor people?
