It is idiotic to draw any equivalence between the Right and the Left here.

All the fringe issues Maher identifies with the Left are MAINSTREAM views of most Democrats. Thats why they publicly call for tampons in the men’s room and why Harris publicly pushed her idiotic views on transgender treatments. She still received 48% of the national vote.

By contrast, apart from garbage human being Fuentes, no one on the Right is publicly praising Hitler or the KKK. And even the Young Republican example Maher gives involved private statements from a small minority of individuals on that message string.

Given this imbalance, it is intellectually dishonest to criticize “both sides” in order to make yourself appear to be the reasonable one. @DavidAFrench has made his living on that playbook for the past 10 years.

Since @jamestalarico won’t tell the American people the full story, here’s what happened:

Following Victor Martinez Nieto’s arrest, ICE processed his request to voluntarily depart the United States with his son, Liam, and they were removed from the country on August 25.

ICE does NOT separate families. Parents are asked if the they want to be removed with their children or ICE will place the children with a safe person the parent designates. In this case, both the father and son were deported together.

NOBODY is above the law. When illegal alien parents willingly choose to break our nation’s laws, they are responsible for what happens to their children – just as any U.S. citizen parent who breaks the law is when they are arrested.

I'm increasingly convinced that appeals to what the Founders intended or wanted is irrelevant to the modern discussion.

Everything about our current society rejects things that are old or outdated. It doesn't matter whether it was a good idea - if it is old, or was established before the invention of the iPhone - it is bad.

Marriage as a foundation of society = Bad
Sexual history should be private/shamed = Bad
Loyalty to your significant other/spouse = Bad
Disciplining children = Bad
Bible/Religion/Moral Values = Bad
Electoral College = Bad
Two Senators per State = Bad
Nine justices on the Supreme Court = Bad

The "why" behind this hostility toward tradition and history is an interesting question for discussion. But it's undeniably there.

History says otherwise. One of the first acts of Congress after winning the Revolutionary War was to endorse a Bible and have it printed in America, something that Britain had banned. And guess what? They endorsed it specifically for use IN SCHOOLS.

Revisionists can try to erase our true history, but we still have the receipts. This nation wasn't founded in spite of Christian principles. It was built on them, and the Founders wanted those principles taught to the next generation.

These idiotic takes are exhausting.

American healthcare has many problems, most of which are government created. But, fundamentally, many people are unable to recognize cause and effect, and they don't understand the critical reasons why both are true: that we're the "richest country in the world" and we have the best healthcare system.

It's important to note that all other single-payer systems leech off of American healthcare innovations and technology. Those who are really sick in Canada or the UK try to come to the U.S. for immediate treatment rather than waiting months for an MRI.

If America went to a "universal healthcare" system, other similar systems across the world would become way worse when they can no longer rely upon the U.S. to develop and produce cutting-edge pharmaceuticals and equipment.

Further, that innovation is only capable because of a semi-free market in healthcare here in the U.S. And our system would be even better if people paid for their own healthcare, just like they paid for their own food, housing, etc.

@Gregor1313's point about being the richest country in the world confuses cause and effect. This is the equivalent of saying, "America is the richest country in the world. Why should anyone have to work?"

The cause is that Americans work hard, and the effect is that we're the richest country in the world.

Another reason why we are the richest country in the world is because we have the best, most innovative healthcare system in the world.

@Gregor1313 also uses "cancer" as a lazy example of medical conditions that should be covered. First, most cancer diagnoses are covered under nearly all healthcare plans in the U.S.

Second, this ignores that the vast majority of healthcare spending depends on choices of the patient. Many patients will see 3-4 doctors for the same issue because they don't like the answers from the first 2. Many patients will come in for minor issues because they want attention or they are hypochondriacs. Thus, healthcare spending is not even close to even among every person.

A "universal healthcare" system - just like any other public or private system - collapses when those using it have no incentive to maintain it.

We live in the richest country in the history of the world. Everyone gets sick eventually, and nobody should have to choose between getting medical care and paying their bills.
